While there are other threads with light-weight flywheels and LSDs in them, I figure one for a more specific problem would be more appropriate. Over the past few days, I installed an ACT flywheel and FX100 clutch. This was prompted after I had been noticing a lot of slop/play in the flywheel (and squeaking). While I was given an OEM LSD a while back, it was installed at the same time. Impressions are in-line with others that have installed this combo. Quick revs, very connected feeling when launching and shifting, etc. Now, I have a few questions for some smart people. Should this setup be excessively loud? I understand that there will be some gear chatter as a result of the flywheel, but how much is too much? Also, should there be any noise when accel. or decelerating? It's like a vibration of sorts, but more noise. Kinda like a heat shield is touching and vibrating, but I have already checked all of those. That's just what it sounds like. Does not having the elastomer dual-mass flywheel introduce that much noise and vib to the trans that it is rattling the gears? Or, could it be the LSD? Is there, was there, any pre-install steps that needed to be performed before install/use? It was taken out of a new, dealer delivered, trans and replaced with a Quaife. So, there are no miles on it. For those that have no read any of my other threads, the trans has 64k mi on it. Fluid was changed at about 40k to Royal Purple Synchromax. New fluid that was filled this time was Redline MT90. Much better shifting BTW.
