    We have done the AlCan Hwy 5 times the first was in 1959. that is mainly where all the terror comes from. The last trip was in 1992. the whole thing was paved .camping and fuel stops well displayed. Just remember the Gas is in LTR not Gallons. When it says last gas for 100 miles, believe it. Great trip.

    I've considered this myself. After looking into it, apparently it's a popular thing to do and there's gas stations and hotels all along Alaska road. I'd go on a fresh set of tires, cuz why not :) Also the construction is the same as any normal highway construction you've already experienced.

    Oh and all 49 stars are lower than Alaska, not just 48 of them.

    It’s just that Hawaii is not connected to the main land.

    I've driven the ALCAN more times than I can count. Your MINI will be just fine. No need to carry gas in summer. Between October and April some of the stations are closed, so you have to plan a little better.

    Buy a copy of Milepost. It's a great resource for your first, or fifteenth time.

    My wife had no problem following me in my lowered 2013 GT500 convertible.
