Thanks!!!
Carol I want to thank you & Holly for heading a group of MINIs into the wilds of SE Ohio. I think splitting into 2 groups worked well. And a special :goaljnky to you for caring enough for us silverbacks to go looking for Mark aka: the wayward one. -
I thought I saw the girl with the leather pants and whip in the MINI ad standing in the driveway of one of the Amish houses and I went back to get her.

Rigid, AutoX w/ Miata's? Do they have a group in Central Ohio?
I agree track is priceless for learning how to safely drive your car at higher speeds and harder turns, but I am also going to note that if you hit some debris on the track it would have the same effect as gravel on the road. -

No not the same effect at all. If you go off on track there is runoff room & you can safely get back on the island. If there is debris they will show you the flag for it & you can react accordingly. Another huge plus for tracks is the medical help that's there ready to render aide at a moments notice.

Hope I'm allowed to post that here.:lol::lol:
Just my .02... -
I mean if you hit gravel you hit gravel. A track and a road treat drebris the same no? I do like the run off and medical on call though. Maybe I will add a medical pack to my trunk.

The Miata club uses non-Miatas to subsidize part of the costs to do an AutoX event. Next year they are going to have some events at OSU and some at Historical Society. This year they did a driver's school that was a huge success I bet they will do one again next year. The other plus is their club has a lot of really good drivers who like to help people learn. If they see you doing something wrong they will tell you and they are always willing to let you ride along to watch them and they will ride with you to help as well. I know the Porsche guys are always willing to have non members at their events, but I have never been out with them so I can't give them any kind of endorsement.

Thanks for a great route and a great run. Amanda and I had an excellent day, and had an opportunity to spend some time in Marietta before heading back home. We also stopped off at some of the historic lock sites on the way back. Interesting stuff for those who find such stuff interesting. Thank you all for a fun and safe day.

OK... I just have to say that Chuck's pack stopped WAY more than we did. We were drivin'.
Great pics however. -
We had time to stop!
Nice driving Chuck!

Looks like I missed a great drive! I was going to just park the MINI for the winter but missing this drive has prompted me to invest in some snow tires for the winter. My current west coast tires do not like anything under about 45, they get very slimy.
