I saw this awhile back. one wonders what the intent was (for those who don't know, it's akin to the N word in South Africa):

 

I had no clue, I had to look it up in Wiki. Maybe I need to get out more or something. Hard to be offended by what you are ignorant of..........

 

I know...it's not mainstream. But, if you've ever read Mandela's autobiography, read or watched 'The Power of One', "Blood Diamond", etc....it's a nasty, nasty word meant to oppress and inflict subjugation.

 

Saw a plate the other day that was pretty halarious, some guy in a beetle.

It seems that the root of the word Kaffir stems from the Muslim term for non-believers and given the Marine sticker on the back of the SUV perhaps it's more of a poke at the Muslim world by saying they're non-believers. I'd never heard the word before and had to look research it but I can see how someone only familiar with the use of it in the Muslim world would use it.

 

perhaps, but it's still a racial slur in Africa. In an area that's quite cosmopolitan, it's a bit shocking to me actually. The fact that there's a Marine Corps sticker lends credence to your thought however.

 

unless of course he is a "dark green" Marine at which point both meanings are funny.

To a racist south african a kaffir in a big expensive truck would be offensive. as much as it would be to have an infidel breathing to a radical muslim.

A friend of mine (rather large obnoxious african-american gentelman) had N***** Lover on his caddilac in vinyl.
