Saw this weapon demonstrated on TV a while ago. Nice to see it is being produced now.

 

Sounds like a pretty serious platform, very cool!

 

Can't wait to see some of the YouTube vid's that will be posted from Afghanistan showing it's use.

and when the battery runs out or the sight malfunctions or the microchip glitches or any other part of this high-tech device fails, I hope it can still be used in the conventional manner or you become "unarmed".

It is not that much different from the old M-79, which was a whole bunch cheaper.

yeah....this is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. insurgent smoking a hookah behind a wall? laze the distance and set the projectile to explode on the other side of the wall using a special weapon? No, take out the wall with the M203 slung beneath the current weapons on the battlefield. Problem solved. No need for a 12lb behemoth and pricey, complicated ammo.

 

All your troops are armed with this weapon, you run low on ammo, call for resupply and they tell you they don't have any of that type, but could you use something else. Well, not exactly.

That is why all NATO countries went to the 7.62 round. Universal. This is not even close.
