Why not get a stock cam? There are plenty floating around for silly low money.

 

Well the OP was looking to modify his performance, otherwise I am sure he would have plugged a stock cam back in.

 

Remember you are talking to someone that still has an MSD coil on a MINI...

For the same reason people buy intercoolers that raise IATs more than stock, restrictive cold air intakes, certain types of superchargers, and cams that take a stock MC S to base Cooper levels..,:mad2:

Owner spends money....feels better!! Granted...sometimes a new INFERIOR PART IS better than a worn or broken OEM, so there might be a change before vs after....just not as good as new OEM or quality part....

Listen to the people who are trying to save your car, not the ones trying to sling parts. Just because something is shiny red and new, doesnt mean there is an advantage to it... The MSD, wasn't even made to be used on a MINI, why do you think you need to drill the mounting holes out to get the screws in? (Maybe they fixed that issue)

NS cams have been linked to a ton of problems... Misfires, sub par running conditions, loss of power over a stock cam, the list goes on... Seems like before I was banned from the Mynes forum, there where a lot of those guys swapping their NS cams for CAT cams... Kinda makes you wonder why doesn't it?

If Mr Cricket gets his posting time back from his wife, maybe he will come back into the thread and explain that one for us...
