So, why are there so few posts or threads listed before a new page is created? I assume this is merely a setting in the master control panel. Just wondering why it was set up like this. I suppose at the moment, there isn't much backlog, but after a while, there will be too many pages and things will need to be stacked up more to make it viable.
This depends on where you mean. You can set how many posts display in a thread before a new page is shown. The standard vBulletin default is 10. However if you go into the UserCP->Edit Options in the Thread Display Options area under the heading of Number of Posts to Show Per Page there is a drop down. The default is 10 but you can select 20, 30, 40 or 50. I personally set mine to 50. Now if you mean the number of threads under a forum heading, that was set at 10. I had not noticed that setting before. I just changed it to 50.
