Registering the battery replacement
Why register the battery replacement?
After fitting a new battery, the service function 'Register battery replacement' should be run. Registration of the battery replacement is necessary to notify the power management (software in the engine electronics and intelligent battery sensor) that a new battery has been fitted in the vehicle.
Without registration of the battery replacement, the power management does not run properly and this can lead to function limitations, for example reduction or deactivation of individual consumer units.
Register battery replacement
This function informs the power management in the DME/DDE of a battery replacement. The following operations are performed:
The current kilometre reading is stored for the battery replacement.
The stored measured values (battery charge statuses, current, voltage, temperature, etc.) are deleted.
The power management is initialised.
Replacing the battery: other battery capacity or AGM battery
As the battery depends on the engine ands options fitted, the following information is coded in the CAS:
Battery capacity (for example 90 Ah)
Battery type: AGM battery or lead-acid battery.
In the case of battery replacement, in general the battery capacity used as series standard may be used.
On installation of a battery with higher or lower capacity or installation of an AGM battery, Progman must be used to recode the CAS:
With Progman, run the retrofit â€Battery†(select battery capacity of the fitted battery).
Register additional battery replacements with this service function.

Babs clubster also is missing ISB nanny!

ghanks for all the information. I don;pt have an ISB, so it must be something else. My plan is to have it hauled to the dealer, so there will be no chance that they can say "could not duplicate problem?".
I will report back once the problem is identified and fixed. -
Pretty sure the purpose of the ISB is to help enable auto- start/stop once that became an option...by keeping the Computer aware of the capacity and condition of the battery, it ensures the car does not shut off tge computer is aware of a possible capacity issue due to age..also keeps the computer so it knows how much power should be available....I hate the thought of needing to update a computer to let it know a car has a new battery...but for some options the OEMS are implementing....it is needed...apparently...

Change in plans. Learned today that my AAA membership only allows my car to be towed "5 miles" free. So, upgraded to "100 miles towing", but that wonlt start until Monday. :mad2:
So, I take the new battery in to have it checked. It is fully charged and shows nothing wrong, so the generator must be working. Put it back in, all the lights on the dash light up, the chime starts chiming. Push the starter and everything shuts off. :confused5:
Continued until next Monday............. -

I think you have to choose body color instead of black Jim, even though body color is black.

Well, I get a coupe to play with and it is calling to two days of freezing rain and snow. :mad2:
Took it out (briefly) this morning and found that the visibility is very limited and in the rain it is awful. I realize that I am use to a hatch, but you really can't see much going on around you. The hatch is also heavy and hard to work with one hand. Other then that it is a pleasure to drive. -
