Coolant tank

MINI did make a revision to the coolant tank at one point.
The original tank was white ( turns yellow over time) the newer design is a
greenish coolor.

We've seen many of the OEM tank fail, even the newer version. If you don't want it to fail go with the Forge Coolant tank, it is all Aluminum and won't fail again.

 

Same with me Crash.......8.5 yrs and no problems with my OEM tank.

 

the problem with the Forge tank is: Has a stock cap that will leak and are prone to failure. Then your pretty tank looks like someone spent a night at the local bar and had about 10 too many

 

Both of the OEM ones are crap and fail fail and fail again. They fail on BMWs and they fail on the MINI. Buy the aftermarket one made by Forge, it is made of steel and call it a day.

 

The vendor can only sell what MINI has. My tank has ben fine for 108,000 miles. If it goes FUBAR i'd have problem buying another oem one.

 

I put in the Forge unit last year, oem wasn't leaking after 6 years but piece of mind well worth it with the Forge.

 

FYI we also have a new more affordable version of the aluminum coolant tank

Interesting How much different is that from the Forge? Lighter? Just cheaper made?

 

still uses the stock cap...........it doesn't fix the problem of the caps
