If you are looking for a great deal on a LSD, check with your local Ford dealer parts dept for the LSD out of a Focus.

I think they used the same unit in the Focus SVT. If I was going to change mine I think I'd want to upgrade.

The Ford one is a Quaife unit.

As an FYI, you can usually find the OBX Torsen-style LSD from an SVT Focus for around $400 if you hunt a bit. -

OBX copied Quailfe, not Torsen...
I imagine that the ole Professor has an idea what he's doing though guys. -
I think from what I can remember from research I did a year or more ago in NAM and on the web; Torsen the company makes the torsen type of diff. Torsen being TORque SENsing. Torsen the company has the patent. Quaife also makes a torsen type of diff and probably pays on that patent...ummm...who knows about OBX. LOL. Thus it becomes confusing when one says Torsen for Torsen is both a company/brand and also a type/method of differential built by other companies/brands.
From Quaife, the SVT Focus and R53 share the same part number.
From Torsen, the same is true.
From OBX, the same is true.
According to a Grassroots Motorsports article from years back, Torsen developed the diff and tried to market it to BMW, they said no thanks. Torsen then went to Ford and they said thank you very much.
Quaife is prettier to look at on the bench. The Torsen brand unit leaves more pretty in your wallet. The OBX has had some belville washer issues and lots of people change those out. If I remember right Longboard ran an OBX for some time with his buildup.
My SVT Focus diff (in my R53) was $632 from Toulsey Ford. Better price than the pretty Quaife and probably about the same money as the questionable metalurgy OBX once the washers are bought and changed out.
Recently Keith showed the SVT diff going into a R56. It is in his ...today...thread.
I probably said too much. My wife tells me that all the time. -

So I assume this is the OEM type?

As a side note..... My diff moaned, but did not groan until the proper fluid was put in. -

The Focuses (Foci?) that were available as an SVT model were from 2002 to 2004 model years. It really doesn't matter. You can just hit up any shop/online store/Ford Dealer that sells SVT and/or Ford Racing parts and ask for an LSD for an SVT Focus. They will do the rest.
