N2MINI MINI of the Month
Here is a local club members answer when his did something similar.
I had a similar problem less than a month ago. The digital display kept cycling through all the different symbols, the speedometer and tac were stuck on zero, the wipers did not work and the parking lights would not go off with the auto headight switch on after I had cut the engine and left the car. I drove it to Flow and it was some type of module that they ordered and replaced under warranty. Of course, it cleared the ODB2 and I had to reset radio, keys etc. -

Thanks, going to the dealer to see what's up. I'm thinking a bad cell in the battery. The little window looks black and it should be green. But it very hard to see with a mirror. With only 6,500 miles, it's still under warranty.
We'll see.

Random question about batteries while we're on the topic...
New batteries in a newer BMW should be "registered" when installed so the computer knows it's got a fresh battery and will adjust its charge cycle. Does the MINI computer work the same way? I would expect the R53 doesn't, but the R56 might? -

If you're needing to get a new battery, is it worth getting the 70AH unit and paying an extra $20 RealOEM.com  BMW R56 Coop.S JCW Original MINI battery, filled ?

It would seem so based on Ric's post.
And thanks Ric, I'll at least be aware to see that the same or stronger battery is replaced if that is in fact the problem. -

During the summer when Im on my bike way more than driving the MINI, I had the battery reset on me a couple of times due to drops in voltage. This summer I'm going to get a battery tender to keep it topped up at the right level.

For cars with little usage a battery tender is a great thing....
