I did some temperature testing in mine after a 1 hour drive on the autobahn.
Temp at the fire wall 98deg,
temp on my BSH catch can 96deg, valve cover 98deg, temp at the turbo Holy$hit! LOL The fire wall area one needs to be good to a little over 100deg so any metal fittings like aluminum would work without a problem.

From what I've seen, when there are two oil catch cans, they aren't mounted at the same place. So, the alarm mounting tab only has to support one catch can.

The engine temps in the other applications were in the 250-300* range. And the fittings that were affordable were good to the 250* range.

Being these cans are aluminum "Great heat conductor" and dissipates rather quickly as well. The cans them selves will see higher then 98*. The consistent cooling and heating of the fittings may have contributed
to those fitting failures as well. Who knows. :confused5:

After a few months the fittings we were using began to fail. You can only imagine the exchange rate we had to go through. Im sorry folks im not going through that again.

Our cans come with Brass fittings. They are 3/8" and 1/2" hose. So folks are more then welcome swap them out at their convenience.

However I may be willing to offer black composite/plastic fittings rated to 250* but those would be at the buyers risk.

I hope you understand as I've already been whooped once and don't want to get whooped again :)

    Thanks again for your interest..

I will have some pics up later today of the actual design.

    Thanks guys/gals.

    Something to think about....
Machine your own billet aluminum hose fittings.
You can drop buying the brass fittings....
You can eliminate the tapping of the pipe threads....
You still need to drill the two holes (but you would anyway for the pipe threads). Press fit the billet hose fittings into the can and tig weld from the inside of the canister (assuming there's room).

    Clean all billet look...

    Anyway just my $0.02 worth...:D

Actually being a CNC machine shop we dont weld, so that leaves the welding out. If I have to out source then the price goes up.

All great ideas. However I utilize the same can for 10 different platforms. If I have to customize a Can for a different platform "Mini"then the price goes up.

I'm able to keep my pricing down compared to others because of the other platforms we already make them for. Hope that makes sense.

As for machining the fittings. It would actually cost me more to machine them, then to buy them. Crazy right? But its true..

Thanks for the feed back Much appreciated..

So David, is that 2 different parts you ended up buying? The catch can AND the block off?

I've seen everything covered here but one REALLY important one....

What about the folks who have their factory alarm system mounted right where you are mounting the catch can?!?!

    Just my 2 cents.

4 Hose vs 2 Hose OCCs

:cornut:What ever happened to the oil catch catch can with 2 ingress and 2 egress tubes? I went to 'Billettechnology.com' and there is no 4 hose oil catch can as was alluded to in the above posts. Does any one know what happened to that idea/technology? Is it unnecessary or what, any one know? Just thought that I'd ask as several of us have bought the 2 hose BSH OCC from Defenders Of Speed recently. Hopefully DOS will come up and 'splain all this on us.'

Any photos or installation instructions PDF available? I'd like to see what it looks like with the dual tap.

Remove Old Port, Install BSH Dual Boost Tap

:cornut: PLEASE PLEASE tell me how to get the OEM port off such that I can install my BSH Dual Boost Tap. I can install the new BSH Dual Boost Tap(I think) if I can just GET THE #$&%*%$ OEM PORT OFF! Once some one has told/shown me how to do this, BOY will I have a good 'friggin' story for the "FRIGGIN THREAD" of our very own agranger.

:cornut: Thanks for the update MM. NM's Can and Block off valve strengthens the argument for one can with block off vs 2 cans. Margi's(08 R56 MCS/JCWm) BSH valve/can system gets emptied(syringe through the top or via valve/hose through the bottom) every 200mi or so of 1-2oz of 'dinosaur snot'. Myself, I would not try to recommend NM over BSH or vice versa, take your pick. The NM product wasn't available when I purchased the BSH valve/can from Defenders Of Speed.(for an incorrigable MINI OCD like me, it's one more thing that we can do to feed our addiction):lol:
