I was/am an automotive tech.
Every forum I'm on, says the same bull about dealers. Hey. **** happens. At some point, someone missed something. We're all human.
We have all used and needed the dealer at some point, for something.
I can't count how many times I have " stayed late, skipped lunch, worked weekends..."
Just to help out a customer that needs to be helped.

And let's hope you can pass along the same thing to your students AND they are able to find a job that let's them do the same.
Unfortunately most dealerships, not service shops, simply use the service dept as the cash cow for the owners.-

I hope to not be the last.
Recently, I took an automotive instructor position at the local technical college.
No more getting dirty!!-

I'm going with.... They didn't change the oil... Color should be same as extra light olive oil...
Does the paperwork show filter and quarts of oil used...Course they could have charged it but didn't perform the work... Could be an oversight on the tech.... Or worse, could be the tech meeting his time constraints on the job...
Take it back and have them finish the job.... Chaulk it up to an oversight with the tech being distracted... At least it wasn't drained and forgot to refill it.....
The very first thing I do after accepting my car back after the free oil change is to pull the dipstick while I'm still at the dealer... Sometimes I find nice gifts... A few wrenches were still laying on the engine...-

Even in my 90k mini the oil is golden and almost clear when I change the oils and drive my car for a while.
Did they specifically say they were putting in "fresh" oil. or just topping it off.
Oh and how often do you have your oil changed? If you wait for 10k it could be that the fresh oil got that dirty just driving home. I pay to have my oil changed every 5k max because of the mods I have on my car.-

Dave the oil is always changed every 5k. That dark oil is what turned the
radar on. Looks like a call to the dealer on Mon. plus now I'm not sure they
might have not changed the filter!-

The paperwork does show a filter and 5 qts. (units) of oil. Think I've been
had. -

Yup, call the dealer. Glad to know you change your oil often.

Just anther example of why you should stay away from the dealer EVEN for the free stuff.......

Go Kenny! Glad to hear there are still some of you trusty guys around.
My Mini is up on jackstands because there aren't any around me, and those who are near here are slightly more expensive than an hour or three of my spare time to change an axle out and swap brake pads.
Have a friendly chat with the dealer. They'll tell you it's fine, that oil gets direty quickly, but remain friendly - and unstatisfied - and keep repeating "I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. (magic words, those). It's hard for them to handle "friendly", they're used to "peeved", and you may end up on their good side. If you get into a bind, offer to bring 'em a cold 6-pack if they simply change out the oil and filter to make you feel comfortable with them again... bring Pabst. -
Let's just say it was my error and leave it at that.
