It's ridiculous in this age of turbo's to be holding a 2 liter engine back at around 250 HP.... Hoping for more... This will probably be the last hurrah for the MINI GP as a IC engine...
I'm not thrilled with the apparent new BMW aero design language that makes it look like a car is shedding it's skin...
I think of this with all those aero flaps........

So, the M/A consensus is that it is ugly and underpowered. I disagree (mostly).
The aero is definitely exaggerated for the concept. I doubt a finished product would have that sorta stuff on it. Active aero would be nice.
I don't get the "fish face" argument. I, obviously, like the F56. The R56 has a very similar face to my eye. I like them both.
The 250 hp thing seemed low to me as well. The Continental Tire cars are pushing 350 hp out of the same engine and turbo and beating the hell outta the drive train.
Still, I won't shake a stick at it because my "heavy" 2,700lb JCW hauls the mail with 220'ish HP it's making. They never did mention the torque rating. -

We all like different things. At first I really didn't like the looks of the F56, but as time has gone by I've grown accustomed to it. Your opinion is the only one that matters. You like it & you bought it.
I buy my cars to please me, not anyone else. If they/them don't like what I drive so what.rrr:

I'm going to go out on limb here & say it looks better than the Civic Type R.

That front end will never fly. It might hurt the ankles of some dumba$$ pedestrian.
-
It's different.
-
It is different I do like some things about it but it won't get built.
But this is the best looking mini face.:biggrin5:Attached Files:

So let me sum this up:
1)Wahhhh? It's not an R53. Even though this is the F56 section.
2)Fish face.
3)Aero cladding sucks/looks like a Honda
4)Seriously, it's not an R53.
5)Here is a pic of an R53 to make everyone feel better.
Did I miss anything? -

You are one of a small group of 3rd Gen fans RedBeard. Glad to have you aboard.

Saying 2 and 3 look the same is like saying 1 and 2 look the same. It's just not true. Ask a gen 1 owner. -

It is what it is....
If you like it..... buy it...
If you don't like it..... don't buy it...
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...
With the intro of every GP, it's a signal of the end of a generation...
Start saving for the 4th Gen in-home high capacity charger....
And look for a charger at every turn of the Dragon.... 318 of them... -
I'm sure an electric MINI would be fine OTD. No long donut runs though, unless they're pushing out Tesla-esc range.
-
BM'r will have to go in the opposite direction, design wise, to get me (and several other previous Gen fans) in a new MINI.
