When did the pricing of options have anything to do with what they cost, and not with what the punters will pay?
I am delighted to do without things like clear indicator lenses when they charge $100 for something that costs maybe 5c - indeed it would be much cheaper for Mini to standardise on clear lenses for all cars - but then they couldn't gouge the $100 on most cars.
I guess the OBC is even better - it's in every Mini but if you don't pay $100 (or part of a package), they disable it.
"What's that you say, sir - you wanted four wheels? Well, you should have ticked the four-wheel option box."

The Coupe seats are more expensive because they are faster......

Fixed the subject line.
There can be a many reasons for this. Ease of dealing with codes for the options. Having one code for each seat type across all models makes it just a little easier to deal with. Then again, a model such as the Coupe would probably bring in a higher profit per unit. Unlike the hardtop the Coupe is more a extra play toy type of vehicle and the buyer demographic has a bit more disposable income. MINI would try and maximize profits. -
Prices for the funky Laguna Green:biggrin5: and Highclass Grey are $500 on the coupe, 1k on the hardtop, but unavailable on the JCW coupe.
