Ok, this is a bit worrisome. After about 10 miles of highway driving at just above the speed limit (being honest here, about 72mph) I got an temperature warning. The outside temperature was about 28 according to the dash.

Slowing down a little and coasting made it go away, and it didn't come back on the road part of my commute, though I did keep revs below 3000.

Any quick thoughts? It's an 08 MCS.

And make sure your antifreeze is good, your thermostat could have frozen.

I had this happen to me at about minus 20 degrees in my Rabbit GTI - turned out the lower radiator hose had shrunken away from the lower radiator fitting in the cold and was leaking.

Check water pumps for leakage if your coolant is low. Don't take time getting it fixed if it gets too hot it doesn't take any time at all to blow the head gasket possibly warp the head. (Been there done that and now I'm on my second motor in my 08 MCS)

Coolant was lower than the min, so I added some distilled water and am taking her in next week.

    Thanks, guys!

It was no guess as most of us have replaced the thermostat housing at least 2 times or more.

Glad everything is fixed now.

Warranty repairs is one of the few good things the Stealership offer and only because they have too.
