    I would be buying the part from eMINI parts....:D

    Such a deal for $17.44....

    These things, have been known to have the internal spring that supplies the some of the tension, to weaken and relax over time...

    Good cheap DIY before damage occurs...

    According to realoem P/N 11 31 4 609 483 was superseded by P/N 11 31 7 597 895....

    Not sure why BMW is in the business of designing chain tensioners.... I'm thinking they've gone through something like 4-5 revisions..... Apparently the spring inside the tensioner gets weak and relaxes over time....

    Thanks MM. After chasing part numbers, it looks like the final p/n ends up being 11314609482. I'll post after replacing it.

    Just make sure someone isn't trying to sell you old stock...

    MINI did make a ton of superseded part numbers on this one item... Trying to get it right...

    If you do a Realoem search with P/N 11314609482, that number was superseded by 11317607551.... Just sayin...:crazy:

    Went back and looked at my MINI service records...

    On 6/25/2011, MINI replaced my chain tensioner with P/N 11 31 7 607 551, which seems to be the latest design... Haven't had any issues with "cold start" rattle... I did not have the cold start rattle at the time it was replaced....

    I'll plan on ordering another as a preventative maintenance item.... If the chain isn't kept in proper tension and it starts slapping around.... abnormal wear occurs to the plastic chain guides.... Then it get real expensive to make the repair... All of a sudden $17.44 isn't a bad deal at all...:D

    It's cheaper than one sparking plug...:Thumbsup:

    I have done more searching for the latest chain tensioner, and have a few BMW parts suppliers that show that 11314609482 replaces 11317607551. I thought that it would be here today, but did not show up. Here is a link to one of the suppliers that show it as the current p/n. Both are 82mm.

    I'll be interested in knowing which part number shows up at your doorstep...

    One source indicates 11 31 4 609 482 is no longer available...

    Part of the issue could be that some suppliers may not keep their P/N files current...

    Here is the latest, the tensioner came today. The sealed BMW Group p/n is 11 31 4 609 482. The p/n on the tensioner is V760 755180 01-WIS, which I can not find any info on.

    I have to go to the BMW Dealer tomorrow, to get a gallon of antifreeze, and will see if he can tell me what BMW shows for the current p/n. The tensioner shiny, looks like cad plating. Overall length is 82mm, and the spring tension is 26 lbs when it starts to compress, and is nice and smooth.

    I got a Carly for BMW, it works fine, with the exception of the parameters. I emailed Marco, and he said that they were working on the problem. Very fast response. I have a ScanGauge, and the other evening, it was cool, and the boost went up to 18psi. The highest that I had seen up until then was 16psi.

    I'll change the tensioner this week, and post info on the tensioner that is installed.

    Thanks for the update...

    When you pull the old tensioner, it might be interesting to measure the spring tension to see how it compares....... as well as the length to the 82mm new one....

    Post the results please...:Thumbsup:
