There was a rash of 06's with O2 sensors that were failing early. Check with your dealer to see if your VIN is in the range that had the issue. They are fixing them at no charge.

I received a paper in the mail from MINI last year extending mu o2 sensor warranty to 100,000 miles. You might want to check on that.

Even if im not the original owner? I will be calling them tomorrow to find out about this for sure. thanks

They built it, federal regulations require the emissions to be in specification for a certain period of time. The O2 sensor is a part of that system...
It's the LAW...... :biggrin5: -
It's federal emissions warranty stuff, doesn't matter if you are the original owner or not. Might also want to contact MINI 800-ASK-MINI and become listed as the owner. That way can contact you directly in the event of a recall.

I'm pretty sure I registered on their website when I got it but ill call just to be sure. Thanks for the info. Oh one other thing. the mods done to my car shouldn't effect the warranty right?

I'm long out of warranty, but when my MINI had one the dealer always commented on how nice my mods were. We are lucky here in town, MAG is mod friendly.

Well I finally got around to calling the MINI dealer my car is in the extended warranty. But they have to diagnose it first (expected) if it turns out its not the sensor I'm out 153 bucks and staring at different issues not sure how I want to attack this. One of the guys from my local club says Way motor works can do warranty work think I might give him a call his diagnostic fee might not hurt as bad.

Only dealers are authorized to do warranty work.

Well figured I would update this. Due to time constraints I haven't been able to call the dealer and see if I can argue the mod issue. Local club members have told me they will deny the warranty but with some arguing you can get them to honor it anyways.
Work finally slowed down for me and I was gonna call the dealer and my check engine light turned off.... I checked the code on my scan gauge and it was still there so I decided to clear it to see if it comes back.... 2 days and counting no more code. I find this amusing because before I replaced my broken engine mount this past week I said to a guy I work with watch my check engine light turn off... looks like I should be crawling under my car looking for a loose wire now. It appears that having less engine movement has remedied my o2 sensor issue.
