According to a post on the Car & Driver site MINI chief Kay Segler has confirmed that the Paceman concept, a three-door derivative of the five-door Countryman, will go into production. The series-production model will be built at Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, alongside the Countryman and share its architecture and powertrain. The Paceman might still get another name, but it will look almost exactly like the concept. Expect it at dealers as a 2013 or 2014 model. Source - Car & Driver
I've always liked the look of the Paceman. Slap one suicide door on that sucker, call it the Clubman and drop the old Clubman body style! I love the handling of the current Clubby (prefer it to the current R56 hardtop, IMHO), but it has just never looked right to me. This has the extra length with the looks I'd like to have. The roofline is so much more elegant than the Countryman. If they can pull off these lines without losing too much headroom, I might have to write a check!
