This might be obvious but it was a new revelation to me. After about a year of fighting brake dust i recently put ceramics on my front. As i am waiting for the upgrade to ceramics on the rear (along with SS lines) i have been haveing to wash to rear wheels way more vigorously than the front. while detailing in the garage the other day i spotted a 1 inch wide paint brush hanging on the pegboard, grabbed it and did a dry brush off of the wheels, 90% clean now and way easier to wash. boxcars
Never used them on the wheels, thanks for the tip. I've also found paint brushes of different sizes work great for dusting off various interior pieces and even a few underhood things.
I also use those swiffer things for dusting interior bits. Never used them on wheels though. I also worry about cleaning anything "dry". I know Cali dusters work, but I feel better using some QD and a MF towel to remove any dust on painted surfaces. Mark
Yeah, I use a cheapo microfiber cloth and Slick to QD my wheels between washes when they get dusty. Works fine for me, but I have the EASIEST wheels to clean in the world - R91 bullets. For washing, I love these things: Three Wheel Scrubber Brushes - Cleaning Tools - Wheels & Tires - Car Care - Griot's Garage The long reach ones - the short ones are too short to get back on the inside of the wheel. I use a flagged bristle cheapo brush from the auto parts store on the tires and face of the wheel - kinda like this: I just use the sticks to get the back of the wheel, going between the spokes. Can do each wheel in about 1 minute this way with no scrubbing and squeaky clean when done.
Actually I use the Swiffer wet. So for a wash I use a brush similar to what Paul uses on Blimey, and then add the swiffer for the area of the wheel close to the caliper and immediately behind the spokes. For QD, I just use the swiffer damp. I also have the Hamk ceramic pads, they help a great deal, and while not the best....they even work on the track.
i donno, when im washing wheels i dont like crap flinging into my face so i use the long handle boar's hair brush i got from Griot's.
rrr: well, my wife doesn't call me kenchan anymore so that's why I converted/migrated/evolved/improved to the glorified ken to kensan. i hope you guys dont mind my stature. :ihih::lol:
