I was wondering if any of you recommend a body/paint shop? I had an estimate to repaint my bonnet for $600 yesterday at Eurotech in Grandview and that's not including a clear bra. Is this a good price or should I keep looking? Or do any of you have the skills and tools to paint my bonnet whilst I provide paint and beer?
If you want to add clear bra after the paint you need to make sure that the paint is baked. If it is just air dried then you will have to wait some period of time for the paint to cure. Some clear bra shops won't touch your car right after a spray. They don't want the liability if the paint lifts off. Good luck.
That's what the guy at Eurotech told me. That and to wait until spring or summer so that the roadways would be clear of most debris so that nothing happens to the paint before I get clear bra.
That would worry me the most. Nice new paint that you have to let dry well enough. If you continue to drive while waiting odds are good that you'll have paint chips in your new paint by the time it's clear bra time. My MINI only lasted 2 weeks before the paint had chips in it. I was thinking about having the clear stuff put on. Too late the chips arrived before I made my mind up. :mad2: Many miles & years later I think of all those chips as a fine patina. :biggrin5:
Yea I'm actually really worried about that as well. Kinda thinking of just using dr. Colorchip and getting really good at filling them haha. Know idea how to do this and make it look good though.
Give Keen's body shop on 5th Ave a call... Ask for Scott Keen and tell him Chuck from Blackwood sent you....294-5882.
Pepper white is the worst with the chips and tar it always looks like it is speckled. The best option is to use a bright color to accent so nobody looks too close at the white parts
I called over there to let the Keen brothers know you might be stopping by and to take care of you... I talked to Jay Keen since Scott wasn't in... The older brother is Dave Keen... Just tell them you are a friend... Maybe ask for Jay since I was able to talk to him on the phone.... But they all know me....
I talked to Scott and he gave me some options. I think I am going with him in a few months once the salt is off the roads. He gave a real pleasing estimate as well. Thanks.
Sounds like you found a place, but for any future searchers, Crazy Charlie up as CSN Motorsports did a fantastic job on my old one. Was great to work with. CSN Motor Sports
Oh yea! Load this thread up with your favorite shops; it will help someone I'm sure and give them options.
