Well, I thought I'd seen everything, but I guess not. That's a weird setup. But, if it works...

Using it I have got a great shot of the Moon. If you are careful how you frame your subject knowing you will crop it latter its not to bad. I have several FD lenses so my wife got the adapter along with other gear for my camera. She bought the camera for my birthday. I need to get a few lenses for it. The kit lens is a 24-70mm. LensRentals.com is not far from my house so I plan on renting to help me decide what I want to get. @caseydog what lens do you use to shoot cars.

OK - here is my setup, mix of old and new..
Canon T71
EFS 18-135mm
EF 50mm
EF 20-105mm (Wife dropped it while trying to juggle the twin boys when young.. works but drags a little (and super heavy)
EF 35mm
Sigma 70-300mm
Frankly, I’ve always wanted to get into photography.. but its more of a start/stop thing. I.e. I start doing it, then get involved in something else (bright shiny object issue).. -
Would some old 'brownie' type shots taken back in the late '60s be of any help in what and what not to do with a camera around sports car gatherings? Temporary duty in Key West introduced me into the world of driving thru the local sports car club, EVSCC, thru solo and rally (I acquired a Curta back then and when I left, sold it to a guy for around 25 or 30 bucks. Look one up on ebay now.) including a trip up to Sebring.

I sold all my rally equipment maybe 15 years ago. Two Curta's two Halda's with one complete set of gears & a Speed-pilot. Sure wish I'd have hung onto that stuff.

Being a relative noob at photography, I am curious of what experienced photographers thought of polarizing filters. I have one and use it regularly but then my photos are ones of opportunity, meaning I end up taking photos at all times of day to record what I may be doing rather than planning photos around ideal daytime lighting.

Land/cityscape is mostly what I do, mostly night photography. They really help with reflections on water and they bring out the blue of the sky and details in clouds. I tipicly leave it on my camera, for the most part if I just have it with me for taking spur of the moment shots it usually helps. If I am going out with intent then that changes every thing.

B + W is what I own for the few filters I own. I've heard things... my pro camera dealer mentioned something to a customer that I overheard that was negative about them. I was busy with something else, and didn't ask any questions.
That was no help, was it? Sorry. But, it is worth some research before buying any.

No......not very.......but it did make me laugh. I was waiting fo what it was you over heard. I guess I will never know. Good point about the research.

I also don't pay sales tax in Texas on Camera equipment, since I am a professional with a Texas Tax ID, so there is no price advantage from B&H.
I mostly buy accessories and other cheap stuff I want shipped to my house for convenience from B&H.-

In Memphis our last camera shop shut down a year or two ago. Now all we have is BestBuy. I will not shop there anymore, very bad experience even after spending lots of money there. I agree with what you said. When they were open I got all my film there and anything els I needed. It cost more but I really wanted to support them. They had been around a long time I really hated to see them close.

Everyone is going nuts over the Sony A7III. It sounds like a nice camera. I still like my 5DIII. I know some are saying the DSLR is dead but I still like the form factor. Also I like looking through the lines instead of an electronic view finder. That just tast. Sony does make some great cameras.

I was at one of my sons football games a few years back. This guy that was friends of one of the parents was there with a new 5D and very nice lens at least a 300mm. Anyway at half time he came up in the stands to show the pictures he had so far. He took the lens off and stood it front down on the bleachers and started showing pictures. No lens cap and no cap on the body. Then he sat there like that and talked. The guy know nothing about his gear.I was going to warn him about doing that but when I started to talk to him he thought he knew it all because he could just go buy it. besides theres nothing to photography anyway. I just cringed the whole time.
On the brighter side. One of the moms, she was very nice, was always on the sidelines taking pictures. One night I asked her what Canon she had. She said oh I don't know I just went to Best Buy and they said buy this one. It was a 7D with a 300mm. Nice set up. I told he she should make it in to a hobby. She said she never thought of it till she started taking pictures of her son. I told of a few places to start learning. At least the 7d went to a good home.
At the time I had a crapy Olympus DLSR. It was so bad at low light to shoot my sons games I was using my Canon A1 from the 80's with a 200mm 2.8 lens and pushing my film 1 to 2 stops.
