It's been a while, been having to take care of my dad down at the beach but I manged to get out for a few hours last weekend for some mental health/photography. VA Beach fishing pier. Life's a beach by Jono Kenyon, on Flickr
I need a new camera and need some ideas. I'm not even close to being a pro, but would like something easy to use and get quality pictures.
I've given up on carrying a dedicated camera. I love the composition and artistry of photography, but the best camera for me is the one that I have in my hands when I see something I want to shoot, which means it's generally the camera built into my phone. I'd love to hear cell phone camera quality thrown into the "Lots of great cameras out there. What do you like to shoot?" discussion!
For many people a phone camera is the answer. Phone cameras have come a long way quality wise. They are still limited in some ways. I enjoy all cameras & photography. Heck I even use an iPhone cam once in a while. Part of it is the gadget lover in me. All that being said I really do enjoy using a camera that doesn't have a phone attached to it. I've been shooting with Fujifilm mirrorless cameras for the last 6 years. They really do it for this old fart.
I'm a fan of Black & White photography too. Guess it is because I've run so many rolls of Tri-x film through my old Nikons.
Well it is. The best camera is always the one you have with you. My oldest daughter is a very good photographer, she almost always uses her phone. The cameras on phones are really good that on top of the computational things the phone does before presenting you the picture can make them an excellent choice. But depending on what you plan on doing there may be better choices. The question has to be asked. I know there are several very good photographers on here so my hope was that everyone would jump in and give advise. I was more thinking did you want a camera with changeable lenses or something with a fixed lens. I am a Canon guy so something like the G7 would not be bad it’s around $500 and has a fixed 24mm to 100mm lens.
@Crashton i have been looking at Fujifim for a long time. They make some very cool cameras. I like that they have profiles to mimic their film. I still like my film cameras but but digital is quicker.
