Last time I flew was back around '88 or '89 when the price of avgas became a discouragement. Flew a Bonanza V35 N5560D and a C182 Skylane N3142S . I think the Bonanza has expired and the Cessna is down in Georgia someplace.
I've been a licensed pilot for several years. Normally fly a 172 or an Archer. Not current right now, but you never know when the urge will strike. Right now I enjoy piloting my 2012 JCW Coupe.
I'm not a pilot either, but a "beginner" skydiver. Twelve static-line jumps, starting in 1978. Five IAD jumps, summer of 2011. And FINALLY EXPERIENCING FREEFALL , two tandem jumps this past summer; followed by the AFF ground school. I've been trying to sell the MINI to pay for the AFF course, but now the season is over for me. Gotta get into it next Spring, for sure. At 59 years of age, I can't put it off much longer; I'd like to earn my "A" license before I get old! :biggrin5:
I'm sure most pilots will agree that departing from an aircraft aloft that is in perfect working condition just doesn't seem right somehow. After going to all the trouble and expense of learning how to get it off the ground and back down and even be able to use it again, well...
I agree, I would like to experience it once for the thrill of it but flying is much more of an enjoyable experience for me.
"If you want to fly, get out of the plane" is a slogan that I've seen on skydivers' t-shirts, and it says it all.
I'm not a pilot (but I would like to be) I've flown a cessna 172 with a trainer I did everything but land the plane. Hopefully someday I'll have the funds to pay for training, because the one time I did fly was amazing. Oh and skydiving is on my list of things to do sometime soon.
It was always my plan to arrive in the same plane from which I departed. After 33 years I fortunately never had to deviate from that plan.
There was an expression, at Ft Bragg, used by us non-airborne types. "There are only two things that fall from the sky. Bird poop and fools" Jim
This is more fun Sorry to say but this is more fun [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS1L8zz-OUc]Mini Cooper S at Sebring - FCA open marquee session 2 - YouTube[/ame] And this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKHewEt-KJc]Formula Mazda car spun at Sebring turn 1 - YouTube[/ame]
:cornut: I saw a video of sky divers bailing out @12.5k in a small 4 seat car before deploying their 'chutes. I'd post it but 1. I don't know how and 2. I can't find it. HAHO and HALO parachutist can/have/do bail out @ 33k on oxigen. Jason
Well, if we're gonna start using oxygen, may as well go all out and jump from the edge of space, like Felix did!
I think quite a few of us are pilots....see lots around the fbo lots where us corporate/freightdogs tend to park....and seen quite a few at the FAA facilites...heck everytime i go to HPN, it seems there is a mini parked next to avitat by the tower.... I fly pc-12's, SA-226/227's (merlin IV/mettroIII), c-208's, and 404's.... Funny thing is my gen1 mini's trunk seems to have the perfect sized trunk for my rollerbag!!
A little over 8000 hour operating big fat aerospace vehicles. C5, DC10, C141, B727 As the saying goes " they installed landing gear on this aircraft so we don't have to jump out. I have dropped a lot of other stuff out the back besides people, though.
