DOUGLAS COUNTY | Police chase ends in crash An Olathe man was thrown from his vehicle early Sunday when it rolled off a gravel road during a police chase from Wellsville, Kan. Blaine Angell, 24, was flown by helicopter to KU Medical Center, where he was in fair condition Sunday night. A Douglas County sheriff’s official said police had pursued Angell, who was driving a 2007 Mini Cooper, northbound a mile into the county when the accident occurred on East 2300 Road. The chase began about 1:30 a.m. when police tried to stop the car on Kansas 33 in Wellsville, which is in northern Franklin County. Authorities pursued the vehicle until it wrecked. Nobody else was in the vehicle. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and Wellsville police are investigating. Source - Kansas City's Best Source for News, Weather, Sports & More | KansasCity.com
Interesting...when I went to the link I noticed the online article had been changed to remove the reference to the make of automobile. First time I've ever heard of anyone being ejected from a MINI in an accident. Something does not compute.
No seatbelt will get you stoped and ticketed here. He wouldn"t have been ejected if he had been belted in. The HP motto is "Click it or ticket". I'll bet the troop turned on his lights and the kid bolted because he didn"t want his stash found. Now he doesn"t have a place for his stash. Bummer.
The stupidity is compounded by not wearing a seatbelt... Truly falls into the category of Darwin Award nominee. Kind of like this now-demised genius: WARNING: GRAPHIC. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxiOXQSBl50]YouTube - Got SeaTbelts???[/ame] Pretty sure that happened here in Atlanta after a very long car chase...
Ya just can not outrun a police radio. You may outrun the cop chasing you but the one's called in on his radio are the one's your are going to run into. *********************PLUS******************************** Always wear your seat belt. The air bags will not do you much good if you are bouncing around inside of the car or get thrown out. :beer
Anyone who runs from a cop probably isn't worried about a click-it ticket. Hope he survives to do some jail time. I've always been told you can't outrun a motorola police radio.
I've out run the cops a couple of times, when I was a kid. Once was in a Mini Cooper S! Extreme local geographical knowledge, not speed, prevailed over the police both times. Dave
It is not wise to run from the cops. Nowadays, if you get caught for anything, you would most likely get probation than years or months in jail. Don't do crimes for one thing but if you are going to get caught, take your minor lumps than to put anyone and/or property in jeopardy. It is a felony here in Texas if you use a motor vehicle.
