@Dave.0 - so I changed the navigation process. Now when you click on a link in the top, you will see a secondary bar.
    New.JPG
You will note, you can also go to the content you are "watching" also
Once you click on "New Post" it will take you to this page.. from there that will be like a the "new" page. A few items to note here:
    1) This is based on "you"... i.e. Items "you" have not already looked at. That means once you look at the new post/thread and you come back here it won't show up anymore as its not "new" to you anymore.
    NewPage.JPG
I'm working on removing some of the "new" options.. unless you think we should keep them. For example, New Showcase Reviews, Comments etc. Those are available in the side bar and members are not actively using them yet. Plus I need to do some tweaking there. I don't think we need to have both a "comments" section and discussion "section" for Garage, etc.. instead we will just use the "Discussion" section so all the comments and discussion are in the same spot. Thoughts?

I'm also working to make a static link in the top Navbar..

@tsmetjen So this appears to be how tapatalk is setup, i.e. it only shows the forums. I'm researching to see if there is a way to show articles etc. Essentially when you click on that link from tapatalk, it is trying to take you to the articles page.. which tapatalk either doesn't support or there is some sort of setting I need to figure out. working on this.

Ok - so I have a link right next to Forums that is called "new".. its not 100% the way I want it to be, but I wanted to get it up there so you can use it and provide feedback. Ultimately, I'm going to change the home page to be more "new" focused and split it from Articles.. since essentially they are the same page currently. Let me know if the "new" page link makes things a little easier for you and your thoughts.

Note this will also work on Mobile. If you click on the hamburger (menu icon) it will be there also.

@oldbrokenwind - did above make sense? Also, regarding the “update” for garages, I’m still researching that. Seems to work in some cases and not in others. Not sure why that is.

Navigation menu updates.. All I made the following changes today as I think it makes navigation a little cleaner.
    1) Removed the “drop down” menu. This does two things:
    • Removes the need to “double tap” on the top menu item
    • Set’s the items that were in the drop down into a sub bar with common items including:
      • Mark Forums read
      • Search forums
      • Watched forums
      • Watched threads
      • New post
    Here is a screen shot
    6B90BE3F-74AF-4476-A81F-1D470752A778.jpeg
That top level menu is static... I.e. it creates the “new” button. Again its important to note, its just the “new post” you have not read. Not all activity across the board. Its based on what you have seen or not seen. I.e. once you go look at a new post/thread.. whe you click on that button again, the post/thread you just reviewed won’t show up (until someone else post there).. I don’t think. Thats the way I understand it works.

    Thoughts?

How is the new menu system working for everyone? I.e with the “new post”?

Good deal - sorry it took so long to get that done. Once I figured it out, was pretty straight forward to do. Let me know if you see anything else you want adjusted.

When viewing the list of new posts would it be possible to have a "mark as read" option for the individual threads? This would make it easier to thin down the list to the ones a person wants to read.

I'll have to look into that. Do you have threads/forums you "watch".. if so you can also use the "Watched Forums" or "Watch Threads" option. There is a 3rd option called Your News Feed.. click on your avatar in top right corner, in the drop down menu there is "your news feed" which will show you watched items and "members you are following"

FYI - I updated it so Classic Mini is now at the top since everything else is in chronological order.. let me know if you see anything else.

Hmmm.. OK, I’ll have to look at that. I would think that would work. The Articles, Garage etc.. I’m trying to figure out. I imagine you prefer Tapatalk as it consolidates your feed across forums. Have you looked at the site on your mobile directly? Would be curious if there are other things you notice that don’t work with Tapatalk. I’ll also do some digging.

Nothing watched other than threads I've replied in. Anything MINI related I like to read. The off topic ones I typically skip. Not a big deal when I check the forums daily but if I go a few days and then do the new posts, read a topic, new posts, read a topic cycle the ones I'm not interested in tend to build on the top of the list and I have to scroll down farther to get to desired topics. Being able to mark them read and not see them again would be nice. But, if it's not a built in optional feature don't worry about it. I was just curious. You've put in a lot of work on the site already. (and, from my minimal experience in running a small forum the more you customize the harder it is to maintain and update!)

Agreed on the customization.. I have a few on here and already am spending some time troubleshooting.. and monitoring version updates. That said, its worth it if all of us want those things.

Regarding the marking them unread.. While this is not ideal, if you click on the threads you don’t want to read.. It should automatically take you to the “unread” post.. once you’ve done that and go back to “new post”.. they shouldn’t show up anymore.. I’m still looking into if there is a different way to handle.

Good point. Or maybe a "Next New Post" button? As you mentioned I could just "Watch" the forums that I know I'll always read.
