Hi All, So, I got new PowerFlex bushings b/c my OE bushings were shot after 50+K. Neighbor installed them, and he is a master at anything to do with fixing cars. So, lots of confidence in him. However, last night when returning home as I was driving around my neighborhood, I noticed a small metal on metal noise (a small tap or clank) each time I pressed the brakes. It's not loud or too serious sounding, but noticeable. It happens just as your press the brake petal, not when releasing or during the press -- just the beginning of the press. He said it's most likely because the new bushings (PF in brackets) are stiff in comparison, and there is little to no give. Anyone ever have this issue and is this a concern I need to address? Thanks Steve Robert
Agree with Nathan, it sounds more caliper related than bushing related...unless your buddy forgot to torque down the front control arm ball joints or another fastener. Does the car drive normal otherwise? I run the Madness front control arms which have spherical bearings [metal sphere, no bushing at all] and I get no noise in normal street driving. If this setup isn't noisy, solid polyurethane certainly shouldn't be. Have your installation checked. Ryan
Sounds like something is loose or the caliper issue mentioned. The powerflex can't have a metal-metal hit. Matt
A quick check might be the tension spring on the caliper, easy piece to forget to put back, and you can see if it's there through the wheel. I backed out of the driveway with it off once and heard a similar noise.
