    Some basic principles...
    Teach gun safety
Keep guns out of the hands of mentally unstable people.
Commit a crime with a firearm... and you go away for a very long time. No parole.

And me,.. I like variety .. AK, AR and K31

    ( K31...... 7.5x55 Swiss Schmidt-Rubin ... 2600 ft/s). http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/K31#section_3

Currently they keep bargaining away gun violation with criminals in plea deals. Then whine about gun violence. Any one see the problem?

:cornut: Yes. The 'Hammer & Sickle' Socialist Progressives are so stupid as to think that criminals are just misunderstood people needing rehabilitation. They don't know that a sociopath is a sociopath. Born that way or reborn that way via a burned out brain on drugs(mainly amphetamine and/or the various forms of cocaine) or other psychological disturbances. Also, the liberal socialists being cowards unwilling to defend themselves, feel that no one else should be allowed to defend themselves. They believe only in their misguided belief that all men are rightious at heart and that if we all just held hands and sang 'coombyah' that all evil would disappear. Naive Idiots. Evil will always be with us and must be defended against. Freedom of the individual is the only defense against evil and The Constitution and Bill of Rights are the only guaranties of freedom of the individual. The 'Garden of Eden' will never exist again since we got ourselves kicked out the first time, figuratively speaking. The Federal Republic of The United States of America is the closest that we will ever come. It is the Law of the Constitution and not the misguided will of the loud minority Progressive Liberal Socialists that has and will continue to make this country great. Those Progressive Liberal Socialists should look to the now nonexistant USSR to see how Socialism has never and will never work. Want to have and keep Freedom then defend the 2nd Ammendment with all your strength and soul.

:cornut: Nice Moisin Nagant. Look at the top of the muzzle end of the barrel. Is the ordinance mark Czarist(crossed arrows) or communist(hammer and sickle), just curious. Yes they are/were accurate of course, the tooling to make them was set up in Czarist Russia. If there are Czarist ordinance markings on her then her sights will be graduated in 'Arshins'(old Russian yard/meter equivalant) as oppossed to yards or meters. Have fun with her.

:cornut: So, who's into reloading. Except for the exotics, it doesn't seam to be as popular as it once was. Molding or swaging one's own bullets has definately taken a down turn. To me, what with foreign ammunition, reloading just doesn't seem economical any more. Thoughts?

Don't let go of you're loading gear just yet. Fact is I have started looking for some used gear and you just don't find it at gun shows much.

I was going to start in 08 then the prices went back down. I started looking again but the equipment has a 4 month waiting list and supplies are hard to find. I may not be doing much range time this year.

:cornut: Maybe, I don't know but maybe, we are just slow out of the gate and the reason for waiting lists and low shelf stock else where is that many people are getting into realoading and being 'quiet' about it. Also people tend to keep their reloading equipment even when not in use, as opposed to selling it. The marksmanship community has always been a quiet community. We tend to gather in small groups at ranges and gun shops(NEVER bars or drinking socials unless the guns are locked away. Gun people do tend to be social imbibers but the practicing alcoholic has no place in our midst.). I think that this tradition is in keeping with wanting to be distinctly seperate from the Rambo/Criminal/ Leftist Revolutionary crowd. Hell, we're having to fight the last 2 groups tooth and nail even as we speak. The 1st group can be quietly educated(usually but not always) to our conservative quiet(except we are not quiet concerning Constitution/2nd Ammendment trashers) upstanding way of teaching proper citizenship and if they don't respond then they go on to choices #2&3 and are dealt with by proper authority. So back to reloading. These days what with 'on line' shopping and all, one has to educate him/herself before 'smokin that plastic' and buying expensive/unnessesary/dangerous combinations of supplies/presses/dies etc. I was very fortunate in having the tax payers via our beloved Armed Forces educate me(thank y'all very much) as to Arms half of the way and continued my ongoing education via self study. Reloading is:

    1. Get an education/fund of knowledge. The NRA's 'American Rifleman' is an excellent place to start and that will lead you to other good and more in depth choices(kind of like learning about 'MINI's' aint it.)
    2. Have a rifle/shotgun/pistol/revolver and learn gun safety and how to use it properly and accurately. Doing this with other friendly enthusiasts is all part of the fun. It's also where one will get a good education as to Good and Bad advice.
    3. Buy a reloading manual and read it. Speer, Hornaday,Sierra, and other companies write good in depth reloading manuals. 'Midway Company' (get the online address from American Rifleman or do 'engine search') and others can supply all the realoading equipment that our little hearts could desire at reasonable prices and they can offer advice and back up their products. Along the way you'll discover other companies that provide OEM and aftermarket gun parts and gunsmithing supplies.(Now it's really starting to sound like working with MINI's isn't it?)
    4. You'll have fun, learn alot, and make new friends. You'll know in your heart that you are 'standing tall' as a good American Citizen(and MINIac!) and be able to pass that knowledge on to other citizens in need in these troubled times. Then somewhere along the way we'll start a MINI SHOOTERS ASSN loosely aligned with we Mini Drivers, maybe. One never knows?...........

Mini Shooters Association, I like that. Is a subcompact model a membership requirement?

:cornut: Your Son and/or his associates do very nice work. They really gave that Moisin Nagant the character and look that it deserves. The wood exhudes a warm glow and the bluing is just right and not over done. One of the few things as beautiful as a MINI is a well cared for rifle.(it goes unsaid that; I'd be very proud of that son and I'm sure that you are. He'd know all about the Camp Perry Matches, SEE BELOW.) These matches are a place where reloading/hand loading really comes into it's own as you want the absolute most accurate load for your individual rifle and that is usually not a factory load but a load worked up at the reloader's bench and tested on the range befor the match.

    Jason

PS- You Ohio Shooters are way ahead of the power curve as you have the Camp Perry Matches every year at Camp Perry, Ohio National Guard Base situated on the shores of Lake Erie. People come to shoot in these matches from all over the world. The matches are for Military, Civillian, and Police. All skill levels from novice to expert are provided for. One can always get a good education to the matches by volunteering to assist in running/officialling the matches. No experience needed, they train you and don't allow you to get in 'over your head'.

    Thanks Jason.

We are proud of him. He does very good work and is extremely detailed on his gun work. If you ever need anything gun wise give him a call. In those shots you'll also see the customer rifles he made based on K98 actions.
