OK, being frugal and all, can I mix the local 89 mid grade with the 93 high test?

 

Interesting that 97 in Europe is basically 91 here. Aside from that it was a long article just to tell you if the manual requires/recommends premium do it.
It is nice that most modern cars will be OK on regular if there is no choice. My uncle had a 2.0 turbo Passat, he is convinced that premium is a scam, no matter how much I tried to explain the difference.

I run 93 in my MINI. I was forced to use carp gas once in east bum fark. My car did not like it. If you find yourself in a situation where you have no choice, just put a gallon or so in to get you to the good gas.

Our Turbo Forester did not care how low an octane gas it ran. It was the same no matter what.

As far as Youropepeon 97 being like our 91 they use a different rating RON me thinks. Our is AKI for what that is worth.

 

Wish we had a SUNOCO station here! I miss it, when I lived in Orlando,Fla. I had a '57 Belair 2 door pillarless hard top with a 283 Fuelie motor and that's all it would run on without knocking and would piss and moan because it was .50c a gal! (SNIFF SNIFF):mad2:

 

My car is tuned for 93.... so I have to use it.
But I used it prior to that anyway

 

We have 93 octane at most of the stations I use here in Arkansas and 2 here locally that has 93 without ethanol so I'm going to try one of them on my next fill-up.

 

93 no ethanol / seems to get better mileage

 

:cornut: Wow. Around here in N. Tx, all 93 octane has ethanol. At the places that one can find no ethanol, it is always 91 octane.

I run 93 octane with or without the 10% ethanol. Never really checked until I did some reading today. I found a place in Peachtree City GA, I drive through every day otw to work, that has no ethanol with octane ratings of: 90,94,110,116
Anyone ever run over 93 in their MINI's? Is it safe? I'm filling up for the first time ever with pure 94 octane gas this week.

 

More than 94 is useless unless you have a tune for the higher octane.

 

Very interesting, it filled alot of gaps I had in my understanding of fuel.

 

The 94 would be good though, correk?
