Wish I could make it. I was thinking it was toward the end of September like last year. There is always next year. Jason share some of your track pictures with us here please. Have fun!
pictures will be here shortly. It takes time to develop the film. Some of the cars were old MGs, three wheel Morgans, Porsche 918 RSK, Jags, Alfas, and a bunch others. I will post when I can.
ok I think that's it. They run the old race route through the city the night before. I was able to run it last year and it was a blast.
Nice one, but mine would read "I'd rather push an MG than drive a Triumph". That's an Eric Jones quote. Truth be told I love them all. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Maybe next year I'll head up there too. Let me know a bit in advance.
For the record, the white #144 Triumph is owned and driven by a MINI owner. Allen Goode is also a member of Hampton Roads club MINI and has a super clean (and very track experienced) R50. One heck of a machinist, but keeping an old Triumph will help make you one I suppose! He finished second to an old Porsche this day.
Nice sets of pictures, enjoyable to see, like the groupings on track. The Alfa Romeo brings back some memories. Don Thanks.....
I am hoping to run in the Exhibition class next year in my mini. Not sure just yet. As people know it takes a lot of prep to get a car ready for the race track and I don't want to break anything. I break enough stuff driving on the street keeping up with Mark (just kidding).
That's great Chuck. I love all cars but I thought it was funny. Sorry about the late notice. I will definitely post it as soon as I hear about next year. I really don't know which cars clubs meet up there each year. Last year there was a bunch or Turners and a few this year. This year the Three Wheel Mogans showed up but I didn't know until I saw them all up there. I was like look at that, then there's another one, and another one, I couldn't belive my eye when I saw them all. Then about 4 were on the track and I was like "they are racing!!!!!" If anyone needs any info on the exhibition class then get with me. I understand it a little bit. They still want the older cars but there were some cars from the 80s racing. Like I said I may take my mini on the track next year.
Go for it Jason. In the old days, back in the 80's I drove to & from my races until the big one at IRP. Back in the olden day it was quite normal to drive to & from the race track. I see no reason you couldn't do that too. You can hire me as your event photographer. I'm cheap, & work for donuts. :donut1:
I just saw this video of the exhibition class and look who is in the stands watching. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQSns7-314M&feature=c4-overview&list=UU2d-IN1cE9SXXJIA3CXYZTQ]Race day - YouTube[/ame]
