One of the guys with Helix had one at the Dragon a few years back. I don’t think it was a “Quick Jack” brand but it was nice.

I like the idea of one for my garage for detailing cars and swapping tires. It would be nice to sit on a rolling chair while polishing the lowers sections and sides of low cars with the car at waist height.

Well - we are going to find out how they work.

    image.jpg
Actually I already know. Been using them at my 9mils house doing the LS swap into the Esprit. Here is the GP2 up on them right before MOTD.. he let me borrow them for some work I was doing..

They are pretty darn easy... that said, will capture the assembly process etc.. as I use them to put on the exhaust and other bits that are planned. :Stig:

Yea - I had been looking at this (you can get them way cheaper.. this was just the first link in the search)
    https://www.gesusa.com/dannmar-mx-6-portable-two-post-car-lift.html

The $$ component has always been a problem. But as much time as I spend working on things.. would have saved me a ton of time. Now that I’ve used The other ones.. its like the old saying, a luxury once tasted becomes a necessity...

Have a feeling I will bringing the GP2 up and down a bit plus the other rides. If I do end up getting the quick jacks.. their portable. So you can use them. :)

They are pricey, and I'd much rather have a real lift BUT you need a garage for a lift, and not just a garage, a garage with a high ceilings and room for a lift. These little lifts are up and coming, I trust the price will drop over the next few years.

Considering how much we tend to spend on other car "necessities" that isn't a bad price.. Still means having to use a creeper though, and I don't get up off of the floor like I used to be able to do.......lol

Harbor Freight tools =. You only need to use them once, because the break.

I will never get under an HF jack or lift.

True, I would like a set for detailing so I could lift the car and machine polish cars from a bucket and not have to sit on the floor.

Agreed - I think they even discuss that on the site.. or I saw it somewhere else. I’ll do a full review, then if folks are interested I’ll call them and see if we can get a group buy or something.

Correct - but my garage is tiny and the ceiling isn’t high enough to lift the car fully.. So in my case it would either be the half lift or something like these. I would love to have a two post and a 4 post... not in the cards at this point.

I have the same problem with my ceiling being to low in the garage. But I am luck My younger sons room is above the garage, he is away at school. I have a saw and know how to use it. I am sure my wife wont mind.:D

I know there may be cheeper ones but if I am crawling under it I don't want to be cheep. I am going to start saving.

@Sully which one would you get? the 12v or 110?

Yea - I’ve looked at those. Pretty common at race tracks etc. The challenge is you can’t really work on the center of the car. Example changing an exhaust. Otherwise those are very nice. I also think you can get them for a good bit less than $1500..

@Zapski - Lol, just realized you had already brought this up... :Bag:

Lol - so was working on the garage "fire" repair today and found an old HF jack.. hadn't been used in a LONG time. Had it as a spare. So I tried it out and lifted a cement block. Gaskets were gone etc. Granted that could be because it has sat for years. Either way, trash bin. It solved a 1 time problem back then.. but like you said, limited use.

We should start a "tool needed" thread/forum. I have lots of pretty much 1 time use or very limited use stuff for many different cars. I imagine many of those would work for MINI.. I'll think on that.

Come on down.. I probably have all the tools needed to fix whatever the issue is.

Offer also open to anyone else... they are also portable so if need to do in your garage we can do that also. :D

I’ve been considering one myself, not that I really need it (or at the moment can afford it) but the want factor is pretty intense.

With 4 kids and a couple of extra cars, some I plan to sale, I could really use those. But at that price you can almost get a lift.
