First operation launched for MINI project .
208 kg remove of the daily car at this stage .
All interior plastic take off , simplification of electrical harness ,take off ventilation and air conditioned .Rear and front chest cylinder. aibag , ABS ,internal and exterior miror , all heat protection of exhaust line , etc.......
i think 25 kg could be remove for the end of project ( light flywheel / alloy rear arms.) but not more.
After you need to change specific parts like doors / hood / windows but the cost will be increase.
    • Roll cage is ordered ,
    • kit Getrag 6 gearbox is in preparation in UK .
    • JCW challenge coilover are ordered (used).
Now i must wait end of CORONAVIRUS mesure to receipt all parts .
I cant continue to prepare welding body due to lack of welding material ( Most of supplier are closed in France)
    See you later

I'm sure it will do just fine. Pretty neat project. Nice to see a MINI going to be used in competition & not just droning back n forth on some road. ;)

Nice project, should do fine if you can get all the power to the wheels. Going to upgrade to a FWD system from an old Countryman ALLwheel?

Enjoy and go slow until you have it done right.

Hi , no possibility to change to FWD system , this project is under special rules of french championship base on 2WD ( possible to change model of gearbox , but no possible to swap to 4 WD , same for the engine , need to keep 1.6 engine no possible to swap to turbo or compressor.)
In the coming year FIA rules must be change to open rules for all parts without restriction .

Would it be possible to have an ecu tune put on the car? I had one put on my R50 by Jan [Revolution Motor Works].

You should contact Jan @revolutionmotorworks.com for information. You can also tell him that we, of Motoring Alliance recommend him, if that helps you. I believe Dave.O also has his contact information. Jan has worldwide experience and a reputation. Dave.O put me in contact with Jan and that lead me to my first ECU tune with him on my R53, and later on my R50

Sadly, I never got too much help from Jan with an R50. He looked at my map down at the Dragon, but felt like what he had wasn’t going to be too helpful for what I was doing with my R50. Understandable, just not a lot that can be done to gain that much more power. As most people tell me, get an “S”! Lol. I’m sticking to my slow Justa just the same.

Suspension and good breaks are better mods for an R50. You can keep the speed you make in the corners and break later into the turns.

    • When did you talk to Jan about your R50? I had the ecu in my R50 done by Jan while at MOTD about 3 years ago. It had an ecu on it by another vendor and Jan felt it was outdated after having checked it out, and installed his own [a newer and more efficient one].

It was a few years ago at MOTD too. Jan looked at my map, felt that he didn’t have anything better. He was going to do some addition research.

Suspension and brakes are very important with making better time thru curves! I am running nothing all that unique, but it along with Colin Chapman’s Philosophy of “adding lightness” has made my little R50 pretty quick. Also, a LOT of driver instruction and LOTS AND LOTS of practice! Would I love more hp? Hell yes! Are there any easy gains for the R50, not so easy(or inexpensively)

    But the 240 Z, it’s all coming together! 793C3CAB-3226-4077-BFB0-E640F3E5E613.jpeg

Here is my lightweight door opening strap. Eliminated The heavy door handle and tweeter speaker! Lol. Ok, maybe not that much weight, but when you are counting ounces......

Thank you for your answer for ECU mapping .
Today i work on rear cradle and arms and i have some questions :

I will change 2 arms of the rear cradle for 2 adjustable arms ( for lower position ) and therefore keep 2 original arms, on the other hand the upper and lower are not identical:

    * 1 kg for one / 1.5 kg for the other
    * Reduced silenbloc freedom / silentboc with more mouvement
    * Possible twist / more rigid

    Which should be kept better?

    Thank you
