Practice before spending any more money or modifying. Been driving and doing track days for years with oem setup and have no problems with heel-toe.
Add some grippier surface to the pedals. That will help also.

I spent a lot of time practicing with little success, having small feet didn’t help the situation. The Rennline pedals were the ticket for me.

Thats interesting. Before you do it maybe find what the measurements are on Gen2 mini. You could buy a set of Rennline pedals. They are made to make it easer to heel-toe shifting.
