It'll need to be reflashed for the new car. By the time you add the price of the reflash to the price you're charging, it's going to be about the same price as new, but with more hassle. The price to reflash of the tool is set by the company, not by RMW. Best thing to do is contact Jan on this....If you do end up selling it, I'd strongly recommend the buyer contacts Jan before purchasing. It will save you a ton of headaches and potential cost.

I don't need to ref lash anything you buy a tune off Jan on his website and you put the car on a dyno to get tuned.. The tool holds a bunch of maps and you can delete the map I have on there.. I think it holds like 5 maps total but won't matter cuz you just delete mine and get Jan to do one for your car. How's that not cheaper? Lol it's a tool that u add maps on it not a tool that comes with maps

What Narvarr said. You're right in that you don't need to reflash it, it's tied to your car and you can get as many tunes as you want from Jan, but the new owner most definitely does need the tool reflashed. The tool isn't plug and play, it's tied to your VIN, and the company charges an arm and a leg to reflash it. The buyer needs to know this, and it would be best for both you and the buyer to contact Jan before any cash changes hands. One guy ended up spending more for the used flash tool and the reflash than he would have if he had just bought the tool new in the first place. You should know that the tunes on your flash tool are VIN specific and cannot be downloaded to another vehicle. That's why it needs a reflash, the whole device needs to be reset. Talk to Jan if you don't believe us, but, no offense, you don't seem to realize what you're selling, and what goes along with it.

I'd just like to add that Jan is the Donald Trump of MINI tuning.

I like Jan. I just sure hope he never acts like Trump when in the public eye. :frown2:

I retract my comment. I wouldn't slander the Great Jandini in such a manner. That soul-less ginger from Socal has substance behind what he says.

heck I've got an r53 tuner in my garage hanging on the wall.....lol...vin locked to my old MINI....think I did the math one day...with the Dimsport fee, think if I sold it for $40, the next owner would have a USED ITEM for almost the same price as a new one....net result, a USED one has nearly ZERO value.....and it will take extra time to get it re-set...then the chance it will not work....
But folks like to pass around used junk online...hoping that some sucker will buy it....and get stuck...
Ever notice it is always a "newbie" selling this stuff....find it kinda odd....
course if you tuned a car....it is likely you are a veteran and know better!!
Heck of a way to treat a stranger....Screw them over!!:mad5::nonod:
