Righto, looks like I’m changing oil every 5000kms then. Out of curiosity what filters do people use.... Some seem to be of higher quality than others.

Oh and btw the beer is always cold!!!

I use the OEM filters from the dealer, if I cant got one from the dealer I use Wix.

I only buy OEM filters by the six pack at my local dealership. I get a friendly “employee” discount.
My car has been very modded and I run Meth so the oil gets dirty rather quickly. That’s why I change my oil ever 3,000 - 3,500 miles.

Fresh Motul motor oil and the OEM filters are cheape insurance for very expensive RMW motor parts.

My motor is over a 100k and looks new inside.

Right, dealership sounds the way to go for filters.
Google only points to suss products made in Asia land.
On another note, my bmw mechanic recommends 10w 60 spec oil..... thoughts .?.?.
I imagine there is an entire thread dedicated to viscosity so apologies in advance..... can of worms :)

Now you did it! You have started an oil war! Haven’t you ever watched Mad Max?

    I use 5W 30. I think 10W 60 would be to thick.

5-30 is fine for my low dollar motor parts. last oil analysis said it was a happy motor, at 100k

Tell your buddy the BWM Tech your car has a good American motor under the hood and 5-30 will be fine.

The 1st gens do not have crappy BMW motors.
