No... I'd say my plan was slightly crazier. All right I'll say it. I was going to add a turbocharger and make the mini twin charged. This plan is conflicting with the fact that it is my commute car and I won't be able to ride my bike in case of rain.

I live in the foot hills in N.W.Pa. and we have a couple systems in Pitts. and no one has ever had a problem. My MINI is lowered also.
I put a piece of the heat wrap in the bottom of my battery box and have had no problems there either and I drove to MITM last year. I put over 3400 miles on my MINI in 2 wks. with no problems and I checked to make sure.

We will not sell anything that does not function properly.

Dave's pipe is home-made and done nicely with the hangers

I have no problems at all with heat because I have lined the inside of the battery box. Note, the picture were taken from my garage floor on an upward angle so it looks alot closer than it is.
I do not scrape on any speed bumps and my car is lowered on Koni Coilovers plus our roads around Philly suck .

I just did a round trip from Philly to Atlanta 11 1/2 hours each way and had no heat issues at all.

I've run the G4 "performance" system and am now running the G4 "subtle" system. Pics of both under-batt-box installs are below. Note that "recontouring" the under-battery-box aluminum piece makes for very effective heat insulation (minimal measured heat gains in heat in the batt box) and retains OE rock/debris protection.

The G4 "performance" system gives a God's honest truth 12-15hp, more on some cars. You WILL feel it. The text I received after a recent install was simply "OMG!!!!". It eliminates something like 7+ 90 degree bends in the stock system, and runs 2.5" pipes. While it has a great exhaust note and rifle-shot burble, it's has a rather aggressive tone (fairly loud when you open it up). That's the picture with the band clamps and Really Cool Tip.

The prototype G4 "subtle" system is still not as soft as stock, definitely gives more hp (haven't dynoed yet, but subjectively similar to the 2.5" system, just quieter), and runs in the same place. A picture of the prototype is below - the one with the cheap clamps and darker color pipe as it was a tonal test only. I liked it enough to run to and from MTOD (565 miles) and while there. It sounded GREAT against the rock walls at the far end of Hellbender, and no headache or earplugs needed. Note that the production systems run full stainless, band clamps, etc - this one was thrown together as "picky me" tested out the sound issues, now I'm wishing I had used better clamps!

Both systems weigh something like 25lb less than stock too, and use SS tubing that's strong enough to use to jack up the car. No kidding - I tested it on a 6" piece with my jack.
