I had to look closely to what you said, I definitely don't want it to look "RICER". I see too many Honda's running around town with those fart cannons drooping off the back of their bumper. Sticking with the MINI looking tips but just bigger to fill out the opening.

If you want to reduce the tailgaiters drop the pipe size to .50cal :eek6:

The more I see the stock JCW exhaust the more I like it.

the paper mock up looks great. I also like the baffle flush with the center tube... both sticking out seems odd... no need to showcase the little ones

    Good point Adam....

The neat thing about the muffler design that I'm going to build will have two removable / rebuild-able / tunable cores. So the shell (4" tubing) would remain in place and the baffle cores would be the removable parts. These cores should take no more than a few minutes to slide out of the muffles tubes without needing to get under the vehicle. I could even put separate designs on each opposite baffle core end. They could both be flipped, and have the small extensions visible or flip them both and have the flush surfaces visible.

Sounds like the old Supertrapp design.

    David...
I'm thinking the Supertrap muffler used a series of stacked discs packs. Mine would operate more like a silencer for a firearm with a straight through exhaust.

I was thinking about the rebuild able core not the diffuser disks. :) The original Suppertrapp had fiberglass stuffing that was replaceable but steel wool worked well also.

My center tube will also be 2-1/2" just like the tubing used on the exhaust pipe, except it will be perforated, 1/8" holes on 3/16" staggered centers (40% open) .060" wall T304 stainless steel. The chambers would be created with 3-13/16" OD discs welded to the perforated tube creating multiple chambers the length of the muffler. These chambers could be filled with high temperature insulation or scrubble. Or, the inserts could be completely removed for special track days.

    Hah.....
Yeah guys, this is all just a little experiment. If it turns out being a dud, well then all the bits and pieces get chopped up and get recycled into something like a bed pan or fence post. The scrap dealer will be happy and I'll end up with a few coins in my pocket.
