I guess it all depends on the Mother in law.....
Glad they are both ok.

Most important is that mother-in-law is okay. The MINI did its job.
I have USAA and they will deal with GIECO. When I was rear ended in my TT recently USAA took care of going after the other insurance company.
The silver lining for me was that I got rid of the TT and am now back in a MINI!-

:cornut: USAA here also. They fortunately have ethics in spades.

I'm glad she's okay. Better the car than your mother-in-law
Also, what about insurance? Was she/the other driver not covered by any form of insurance? -

Fix the MINI, great your mom in law is ok, she should get checked out by a Doc a couple of times.
MINI will fix up good as new, mom's in law's are hard to replace.

Glad your mother in law is OK. The car can be fixed or replaced if need be.

No news on the repair front, except that the in laws received a letter from the at fault driver's insurance company (GEICO) stating they wouldn't accept responsibility, nor would they make any restitution. No big deal, they have USAA and USAA will pay for repairs and go after GEICO themselves. The audacity is astounding though.
As I figured would happen, there is some rumbling about trading the R56 now that it has been wrecked. The real reason she liked the R56 better was because it wasn't "jerky." I did feel what she was talking about, but that stopped with the timing chain tensioner replacement. Now that my R55 is running smooth as silk, she is talking about trading the R56 for another R55.
Must be nice to have money to burn. -

Either Geico is the scum of the earth or the texting driver is lying his/her arse off.
My brother-in-law was on his motorcycle a few years ago and was rear-ended by a teenager. The kid ran to dad's body shop and repainted the car quickly, then claimed the accident never happened. Unfortunately for him, the brother-in-law had one of the first cell phones with video capability and he had turned it on before getting off of the bike and heading back to trade insurance info. He had the kid, the damage to the car's bumper and the bike all in one continuous video shot. Sometimes people suck and I love it when they get caught. -
