The last time I got stopped, I used my windshield-mounted V1 to get out of a ticket. The officer said he got me at 10 over, a block from a stoplight in a school zone that's always got a radar trap in it. I told him that couldn't be right, because I live in the neighborhood and know they're always around. I also told him my V1 didn't go off - and that it's very reliable. I then asked to see the readout on his radar unit and whether the unit was calibrated at the start of his shift. He thanked me for being careful driver and told me to have a nice day. :biggrin5:

 

Valentine One. I've used several, but the V1 is the only way to go IMO.

Doesn't just tell you when to slow down. Tells you when you should GO FASTER. :devil:

 

Yep....what a great country! I don't have to wait in line with the illegals getting their driver licenses.

 

You can go fast in a justa too. Must be those new pedal covers causing the gas pedal to head to the floor. :wink:

 

Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go? :ihih: That little adage used to be about race cars, but translates to street cars too. :frown2:

 

I've been running a laser confuser ("jammer") for several years. Has saved my bacon a few times. Properly used, the LEO's don't even know what happened. Just takes them a little longer to get a reading... By which time, you've checked your speed to confirm that it was always safe and legal. :devil:

Valentine One is supposed to be the best. Don't waste your money on anything less than the best. Haven't used a detector in 20 years & haven't received any awards of velocity. Of course I always toddle along under the limit.

 

Good luck driving in Boston. It's the craziest place I've ever driven and I've cover the country.

 

Best radar detector.......common sense and paying attention. Never had one and clean record for over 20 yrs.

Ha ha, that's why I've had 3 tickets in 2 months. Now I have to go to Saturday Dumb Arse Class to reduce my record by 2 points. I need to buy a Justa!

 

Radar jammers are illegal (FCC regulated) but laser jammers aren't. Just say'n

 

Whistler less than half the price of the Valentine 7/8s as good. The last tests and reviews had the Escort over the Valentine.

I've had a detector since the fuzz buster came out. After the fuzz buster were Escorts (the best at the time), then a Uniden (crap), then Whistlers. I have had a speeding ticket since 1981. Knock-on-wood.

It's not only the tool it's knowing how to use it. I've talked to people that have gotten tickets with detectors because they don't know how to read it. The first Escorts came with a great book that, if you read it, told you how to read the signals.

 

I have an Escort but will be replacing it with a V-1.

When you are on a country road there is no pack of cars. So no warning, just bang gotcha. Hates paying the speed tax. rrr:

Current V1 firmware enables you to turn off those alerts.
