Ha ha, that's why I've had 3 tickets in 2 months. Now I have to go to Saturday Dumb Arse Class to reduce my record by 2 points. I need to buy a Justa!
You can go fast in a justa too. Must be those new pedal covers causing the gas pedal to head to the floor.
I had a V1, and then the state put up radar stations every mile on every Highway in cincinnati. Every mile I would get a screaming hit, and eventually I figured it out. At that time, only escort had GPS and the ability to block those out so I switched to escort. Both companies are based in cincinnati,. And I just don't understand how valentine owners and employees can drive here with the speed monitoring. It's for tracking Highway problems, but still.
Just cause the roads are randomly named, twist, turn, and partially one-way, with folks making right turns from the left turn only lane does not make it crazy.....not to mention daily/nightly detours to fix the 2500 pound ceiling tiles that have started to fall in kill folks and crush cars in "new" tunnels (its been a couple years...but still, yikes!!). In many ways it is worse than NYC...... One tip...GPS does not work in the "big dig" aka the tunnels of i93/i90, and the 3 harbour/airports tunnels....all having multiple exits, lane drops and mergers in a twisting tunnel that has limit sight distances and almost no signage..... So know where you are going before you enter the tunnels.... And I use a 9500i with the GPS speed from it set on the display.... But one tip....laser is almost used exclusively by the highways cops up here....so a radar detector is really only useful on secondary roads.....laser detection is such short range...your best bet there is looking ahead for tail lights....
So you are saying they are going to take off 2 points for teaching a bunch of Dumb Arse's how to drive fast safety?:lol:
Yep....what a great country! I don't have to wait in line with the illegals getting their driver licenses.
Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go? :ihih: That little adage used to be about race cars, but translates to street cars too. :frown2:
Strangest thing is when I lived in Colorado (2001-2004) they had some of the tuffest rules in the nation....even though I had a Missouri DL, I still had to show proof of citizenship as opposed to just transfer it.......Missouri, Michigan, New Hampshire, Alaska, just took it as a transfer... Guess they are issuing them to anybody now according to the press....
Just remember....if you have a radar detector stuck in your window and then get pulled over......don't expect to get a break by the authorities :nonod: That's why I have a V1....remotely installed in the back of the car......with a VEI remote display gauge on the instrument cluster
The last time I got stopped, I used my windshield-mounted V1 to get out of a ticket. The officer said he got me at 10 over, a block from a stoplight in a school zone that's always got a radar trap in it. I told him that couldn't be right, because I live in the neighborhood and know they're always around. I also told him my V1 didn't go off - and that it's very reliable. I then asked to see the readout on his radar unit and whether the unit was calibrated at the start of his shift. He thanked me for being careful driver and told me to have a nice day. :biggrin5:
I have an Escort Passport Max. It's a little pricey but I love it and I got it while living last year in New Hampshire and driving the highway everyday and now back in Florida and driving in town it seems to be a little bit much but still love it for the days its kept me driving without being pulled over.
I have been using a Escort Passport 8500 x50 for many years (I think now $300). It always ranks well in detection tests. I do most driving in more rural areas so I do not need the GPS capability of more expensive detectors. I like being able to turn of individual bands, such as X and K that I do not care about and mainly cause false alarms in my area. The arrows on the Valentine 1 would be nice but I did not want to spend $500 on a detector.
In Ohio the trooper are taught to aim at the front plate. So I cut the plate down to just the numbers and angle it to reflect down. It is 100% legal to Ohio law. (law says clearly visible and rigidly affixed) I've seen officers take a double look at it and keep on going.
I've been running a laser confuser ("jammer") for several years. Has saved my bacon a few times. Properly used, the LEO's don't even know what happened. Just takes them a little longer to get a reading... By which time, you've checked your speed to confirm that it was always safe and legal.
