Heck yes I would do that with my MINI.:yesnod: A set of narrow snow tires is all you'd need. The MINI does not have loads of clearance, but for the course that was in the video it has plenty. That course was pretty smooth in my eyes.

I do not seek out dirt roads in my MINI, but I don't avoid them either.

 

Goona go out on a limb and say that Hoosiers (or any other slicks) would not be the right tire choice for that?

 

Wow.........why would anyone do that with a MINI?

Get a car with a bit more suspension and then have some fun.

 

B/C Like any SCCA Auto-X event, you have lots of different classes, including FWD Stock (SF). Stock MINI S has plenty of suspension for an event like that.



Awesome video Nate! Ive seriously considering doing this with the LA group before, but had little desire to swap out suspension to do it.

 

The stock MINI doesn't have nearly enough suspension for the road, much less doing a rallycross.

 

They have as much travel as a lot of other FWD cars that do such things. And while the roads (course) are rougher then a nice interstate hwy, they arent terribly either. City MINIs experience more abuse (pot-holes) to their suspension then a rally-x one.

 

I cringe.

Gravel road = maximum speed 15 mph (and the countryside around here is rife with 'em). Self-imposed rule. Yes, incurable OCMD. Paint chips suck.

 

That looked like a blast. That being said, I think I'll stick to road courses. With all those bumps and vibrations, I can't imagine walking away from that without a thumping headache :lol:

 

love it. i would never take my mini to a rallycross but thats why i still have me crappy subaru. as for wheel travel i think it would do just fine. as tires go stud-less snow tires are your best bet as there dot approved and class legal for stock fwd.

 

looks like fun, but I'd like to see some 180 degree turns for the Sebastian Loeb handbrake turns.

That looks like a fun time and I would do that in my car. Turn up the coil overs and put on some narrow times.

All the dirt and dust would be no big deal, after all that's why I have all my detailing supplies.
