Glad all is well with you Chris, been wondering where you've been.

I don't know what it is about body shops, but it seems to me anytime a car enters a body shop it comes out looking great with some sort of electrical fault??? It's a wonderment for sure. Good luck finding the fault. Maybe you just need an infusion of this stuff.

You are worried about rattles in your rally car? Do a few yumps & shake them all away. :D

Just got the passenger door lock unit thanks to MA Gen1 classified! Final drive is delayed yet again for another 3 weeks! Looks like June before I get the damn thing. What can I do? nowt...no worrries I've got plenty of other things to do to keep me busy.

My decals are stuck too! the decals guy now has a girlfriend so the decals are low priority...LOL

The driving standards in CR are pretty bad with Thursdays drive home from work proving that. I had to stop quickly as a moron coming the other way passed a parked truck on his side a the last minute. The Mini brakes are awesome so stopping was not a problem, not so for the day dreaming BMW 5 series behind me. I heard this tyre squealing, looked in the rear view mirror to see the BMW covered in white tyre smoke getting very very close. I had no where to go so I braced myself for impact. Lucky the turd stopped just in time. The Mini was saved! so I quickly pulled off once the road was clear with the BMW on my bumper flashing his lights in anger. go figure...anyway just down the road is a huge pot hole on the other side of the road, so just as I get near the pot hole a truck coming the other way came straight at to avoid the hole forcing me off the road onto grass and the BMW nearly rear ending me again! OMG I thought screw this, I dropped down a gear, floored it and passed several cars to be rid of the jinxed BMW. He tried to chase me but I was gone.

Friday I flew out at noon so I spent the morning sorting out the state type window sticker. Go to the license office, then to a lawyer, then license office, waiting in line etc but finally got the sticker ordered for when I get back.

I thought the very same thing! The problem I have with the Mini is it turns nearly everyone into a wanna be racer. LOL

I'm working on it. Got a few ideas but so far nothing confirmed but the way things are going I won't have the parts to catch the only 2 events I can do. The final drive is delayed yet again. So everthing is going to happen next month fingers crossed

oh forgot a funny story. The last visit I brought in the gear set and some used gears. I thought the customs would give me a hard tiime but in my carry on bag was a bath bomb from Lush. Shaped like an apple. So I put my bags through the scanner and the customs giy says I have fruit, I say no, because I forgot about the bath bomb. so after some searching they found the bath bomb and completely forgot about the gear set! LOL. So this visit I did the same thing and they completely missed the 50 bottles of lotions I had in the checked bag to sell...hahahahaha Now I'm buying more bath bombs for each visit.

I friend of mine who raced a car with some demon tweaks that were contrary to the rule book always had one thing that stood out & grabbed the attention of the scrutineers. They'd birtch about that, he'd hang is head & say OK I'll fix it. Then go racing with the other boat load of illegal tweaks.

I stick to the speed limit in the US...In Costa Rica there are some rules but not that many. Actually 80mph was a slow day.hahaha I think driving in CR is like a PS4 game with no reset button.

This weekend I fitted the decals and moved the heavy spare wheel around 10" further forward which seemed help the handling a little. Yesterday I was at Parque Vive (local race track) to show the Mini with some other rally cars. There was a drifting and drag racing event and some really strange groups of cars. Plus 1 original Mini spoilt by some oversized wheels. Photos to follow

Nice pics, Chris! The stuff I sent you should be waiting for you when you get back home! You can decide to install them or not.

I fly through CR but I'm not there long enough to get out of the plane. Wish I stayed so I could take in a rally. By the why Chris I have had no trouble with WRC+. I use my iPad to send the shows to my Apple TV.

Back in the mid 80's I did some work at the embassy in CR a few times. I was stationed in Panama at the time so my trips were usually just in and out. I always thought the country was a beautiful place and the people were really nice. Even thought about retiring there one day, but life got in the way and I ended up retiring within 10 miles of where I grew up.

I wish you luck in the upcoming season and hope you'll keep us updated.
