I only want to see Chris on it....waiting on 2nd and 3rd to show up because the MINI is going to blow the other guys doors off.....:cornut:
Thanks fans! No pressure for me. hahaha I have Yaris, Sentra, Civic, Echo and Accent to battle against. On paper the Mini should be a winner with the mods I've done but you know how rally is. So steady as she goes. I have have to do the Homologation papers for the rally. This paper is a tech report of the complete car. So any mods I've done I have show them here. I have most of the info but can't find the angle of the valves (in/ex) for the head. I might be asking some other stuff too as I work my way through the paper. Thanks in advance.
Medical , Rally license and car technical all done. We did the recce on Saturday. The stages are short with some rough sections. The first stage is run once , then up and down for the next 6 stages (5.5KM) then up and down again but part way we go another way to make a 9.5km stage. We did the practice yesterday on gravel to find the Mini is very tail happy, so much that we spun. ooops. The rear tyre pressure was 35psi so we dropped it to 30psi which helped but I think 26psi will work better. Overall the Mini seeme very fast and up hill has a lot of pulling power. I love the tail out handling but currently it's too much. The suspension seems to work well on the rought stuff.....so now we're on the countdown....oh the nerves!
Opposite lock seems to be the word of the day. Sounds like you are having fun. Good luck on rally day Chris!
Good luck, can you adjust out a little on the rear sway bar to bring the tail happiness down? Nice picture, waiting to see how you and the MINI do, always nerves on the first time in. Don
I don't have any adjustment on the rear. I did do a brake check on tarmac this morning finding the bias is too much to the rear, so I adjusted that but only the drivers side rear locks up suggesting the PS rear is a little siezed. Any quick fixes? A good thing about driving your rally car to work is things happen. Like last night, no starting but a push start got me home. After some checking I found the sensor on the clutch master cylinder had dropped off......2 zip ties later the engine was starting...lucky that didn't happen on the rally.
I'm not sure it is brake bias causing this Chris. Two thoughts, with only one rear caliper working your brakes are becoming steering brakes. Your alignment is causing the rear to steer under braking. Don't have any quick fix for a bad caliper. Just replace with a good one.
The alignment seems ok. I hear that rear caliper squeaking so it must be sticking...another part for the shopping list! • Ver Tema - RALLY PACIFICO CENTRAL - FECHA 5, 2013 - INFO Y MAS... I put the Mini as John Cooper Works just to scare the other teams! hahaha
I had a pro photographer do a shoot before I left CR , here's one of the shots...looking forward to seeing the rest.
All quiet here, enjoying the summer while MA freezes. I hit a pot hole with road tyres on the front the rally tyres on the rear. The road tyre got a flat and the rally was fine. Just goes to show how srong rally tyres are..... I've been promoting the Mini at the weekend for the sponsors.....other than that I have to wait until next month for a rally. I think rallying with go on in CR but on private land, pretty much the same as it did in CA. Happy holidays
It seems some dudes in CA did a rally R50 back in 2003 with mixed results. Checking out the photos they have the same low rear end issues.....Double Take Rally Intro
