replied to the PM. There's never a last rally! haha if I get a job I might fly in for the rallies. Also my sponsors might cover the costs as I'm thinking to move to Asheville NC , so the flights will be cheaper. Asheville means I'm close to the Dragon.!

You should move to Robbinsville and meet up with Dick, aka the modfather, on M/A. He just moved there from Colorado and runs the Dragon as much as he can with his rat rod MINI there. He's a paint magician/mechanic...good guy to know.

I know the Modfather , he like many others have supported the Rally Mini since day one. I think I have some ABS sensors on the Mini from him.

If you happen to move to NC, there might be a pure silver R50 floating around the auto auction circuit with a failing midlands gearbox..... I know you enjoy rebuilding midlands gearboxes.

It's gone. I miss it. I probably should have kept it-I can fit two minis in my garage without my wife's car loosing its space. My new one has been at the dealership for service as much as I've had it. My R50 was relatively trouble free, except for the ticking time bomb gearbox. A co worker clams to have seen it on a back yard dealer lot.

I should look for it! hahaha. It's funny because I'm clearing out stuff ready for the move in June to NC and found 2 Midlands diffs, I put one on Ebay for $20 and sold it to a guy in CA.

Chris, really sad news to hear. Your Mini helped encourage me to do my own. I really hope you are able to do the rally before you leave CR.

I missed a pre-season rally test this past Sunday. Just 3 cars showed up! once again the organizers picked a date without contacting the crews. Away the good news is the Mini is driving like a champ, still with crunching gears on some shifts but I'm learning to live with it until I need to pull the box out and rebuild it. I suppose my 6000rpm shifts are not exactly good for the jolly old Midlands...hahaha

I've heard there are 4 rally dates but not any date confirmed! the norm.

I move to Asheville on June 1st and then look for a job of sorts. Maybe beer tasting?

Asheville? As in NC? Cool. My girlfriend lives right outside of Asheville. Maybe on one of my trips we can meet up for lunch or something.

wooooooooooooo hooooooooooooo I'm back! sorry for the lack of contact. Since leaving the company I had many things to do. Like buy a laptop, move to Asheville and sort a lot of other stuff. Currently I'm working out a contract with my previous employer so once that's done they might be in need of me down in Costa Rica. I left the Mini with my sponsor so it's in good hands and in storage.

I've seen plenty of Mini's and beer in Asheville!

I'm off down to CR on Thursday to visit my ex employer and go get the Mini running. Turns out (like all rally cars in CR) they didn't touch the Mini since I left in May, so when they tried to start it ,the engine ran with a misfire. haha Their mechanic tried to fix the issue and made the engine 10 times worse so they paid for me to fly in and fix it.

Of course once you get it running you have to take it out and give it an Italian tune up!
