    This is an old one (1983), but it was quite new when I first saw it. This still gives me goose bumps watching it. Ari Vatanen & Teri Harryman were quite a team. The fact that they are in a RWD Opel Ascona with an honest to God floor shifted manual box & carburators singing their intake song makes this all the better. Even though the video is of low quality by today's standards this video rocks. My all time favorite rally video!

    Turn up the volume & pull your seat-belts tight. :biggrin5:

    Rally guys do drive anything, just like racers. A friend of mine did One Lap of America in a Yugo. Heck it was brand new & offered to them for free. Heck I'd have rallied one had they given it to me. :arf:

    Truth be told most General Lee's ended up the same way. More Chargers were killed on that show than rusted away from salt.

    There is an art to flying a car & even the greats can get it wrong. Remember what happened to Ari Vatanen's crash in Argentina?

    This is pretty cool. Rally driver's eye view (nearly) via helmet mounted camera. I've seen this in other types of cars/driving but I can't remember seeing it done in a rally car.

    It's jumpy but I still like it better than some of the cage-mounted views or other mountings because you get to look right where the driver is looking (nearly) rather then just where the car is pointing.

    I also like that I can understand a majority of the pace notes. Particularly enjoying all the special comments. "Remember the phone box, be brave!" "Aim for the rock, now DON'T BE A HERO!!" :lol:

    That was apparently Stage 9 of the Mull Rally on the Isle of Mull, "the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland". Here's a map of that day's stages.

    All I know is the description says "Simon McKinley The White Escort 2 with footage from the 2005 Irish Hillclimb and Sprint Championship."

    Something tells me the co-driver hiding under the dash didn't need to tell this guy to "be brave". :D
