    I agree & have always thought that. I know of 2 co-drivers who have done that very thing. One in '76 at the 20 stages rally which actually was caught on film for a Castrol rally movie. The other I don't remember where or when.

    My friend Tom Drake always wore long laced work boots when he rallied. When asked why he said they were good for pushing cars out of ditches & the long laces made great throttle cables. :wink:

    I think that's from a pre-rally run. He had a small problem during the rally as well. Here he is showing why they usually run rally cars on 4 wheels instead of 3.

    Looking back at the Group B cars, were they quicker than the WRC cars

    It is my thought that they were quicker, but I do not know. If not they sure were more thrilling. That being said the Group A cars that came after became almost as fast. I'd hazard a guess that the WRC cars are as fast or faster.

    Back in the group B days rallies were more of an endurance event than they are today. That is a sad thing in my mind.
