I think the caliper paint could be worth it as talking to some folks they use it at every event to check for issues e.g sticky calipers as well as pad selection. So it wouldn't be a one time use especially if I get ducts etc down the road and need to revamp my part choices. Interesting info on the caliper strips, I boiled super blue a lot and have since swapped to motul which seems to be doing better but can't hurt to see how close I am to the border on that. p.s. good idea but i don't think i am quite tall enough to hit the brake pedal and get a view on the rear passenger brake disc
Fun Fact: my daily driver came stock with brake ducts but the mini didn't  Ordered some brake temp paint and signed up for a couple more events I have 1 new and 1 45% set of front pads and 1 60% set of rear pads after which I can have some data informed purchases
Thought I would post back here now that I a few events worth of data Looks like my front and rear temps are about the same at ~1100-1200F So looks like I will need proper track pads on the back. I have a couple of events or so left on the AX6 and think I will try the performance friction pads as a local shop has a set of rears on sale. Todd recommended I swap to the Poly H based on my wear so I will be doing that once the last Bs are gone.
WOW, thanks for the data. I always liked running the same compound front and rear on the MINI; this data give a little weight to my argument. I'll have to pick up some of that temperature paint sometime.
No problem, I know everyone's pace and local tracks are different but for me the rears were less than 200 cooler than the fronts at 3 different tracks including 2 sessions in the rain. From what I can tell unless you are just starting out, track pads are a good idea for out back!
