I have four point harnesses. To make things easier, I just removed my rear seat backs and left the bottom cushion. The seat backs weigh 15 pounds each [IMG]
It looks fine as far as I am concerned. Cost of project $0

If you want to see photos, let me know and I'll snap some.

I did a seat delete in my 06 MCS and it turn out great. The worst part was trying to matching the carpet. I did mine a thick cardboard first as a template then in 3/4 plywood in a front and rear section then I carpeted both sections on the top and bottoms for a real finished look. I could take it out and the seats back in the car, in under 15min. It also would hold my 200lb dog too. I have a clubman now and don't need the old delete kit so if you are close to the South East Tennessee area you can have mine for free.

Did mine several years back on a 2003 and found a great carpet color to go with a dark silver. I got the one to hold the schroth harnesses. here is a pic.

I made one out of oak plywood covered with black carpet. I like it a lot!

I find my delete kit to be way more usefull than the seats which are only good for headless teenagers with less than a size four shoe. I can now carry @ 8 bags of cedar mulch. I also got a 4' X 6' doormat at Costco that fits quite well. The extra length folds into the well and when needed folds out to cover the bumper. I'm happy!

I did the delete a few months back, and LOVE it. I have a delete kit that makes it easy because it is heavy duty plastic that the cargo net hooks right on to. no need to match carpet :)

I plan on deleting mine soon. Think I will go the plywood route, and rather than carpet, I'm thinking some kind of rubber/vinyl flooring. All that goes back there are tools boxes, garden supplies and dogs. I figure things will stay put better.

^^ Just installed mine yesterday. Looks good, but it's a bit flimsy.

Did you add any Dynamat type material to help with road noise?

Did when we installed mine. Note how nicely this is cut out for fuel tank acess insuring I'll never have a fuel pump problem.

Besides on the floor we lined the underside of the panel as well.

Just in the Clubman I think. :ihih:

In my R53 they designed a nifty "race tire holder tub" between the front seats and the boot that holds my Hoosiers very nicely en route to the track.

Nate - that is slick. Thanks for sharing.

Jeff - Is it so flimsy that it sags? I am thinking I may have to add some braces if it is too flimsy.
