I have had my 06 MCSC a little over 39 months. He spends nights in the garage, weekdays in a sunny parking lot, and is washed every week or so with Meg's Gold Class car shampoo. I have put nothing on the molding in question. Has anyone else seen this kind of deterioration? The upper flange of rubber is about gone! This is the worst part, but it's cracked all the way around.

Our 05 Cooper did the same thing. Took it to the dealer to replace under warranty. We now keep garaged about 90% of the time. It has been a year or so since replacement. I think the rubber gets dried out from the sun. I don't know how much they charge. But it didnt take longer than about 5-10 minutes to install.

Mine 05 did the same thing. Replaced under warranty. The molding itself should not be too much $$$ and replacement is a snap. Literally. Three or four clips.
