I think it is the fuse. They may have only protected the lights and not the dash light. However the fuse was placed way down behind the front panel, where it is hard to get to, which was STUPID, for a dealer installed item. I love MINI's but the way they are put together is beyond belief. Somebody asked, in another thread, if you would rather have a trained tech or a mechanic work on your car. Well, I want a mechanic. Jim
Norm, a bit more research, pending the possible snow event, has proven that the rear wiper goes into constant operation whenever the shift is placed in the reverse position. Car does not need to be moving backward as I first thought. Jim
Okay, I am about to go for the drive home, I will back around a bit in the parking lot to verify again. Y Do you have a manule or automatic transmission? I have the 6 speed.
Nope, don't have that happening. I am wondering what is turning in on to steady operation. My rear wiper switch only has off, turn counter clockwise for one swipe or roll clockwise for intermittent or squirt washer fluid if you roll it all the way clockwise and hold it there. I have replaced my back up light switch twice with OEM replacements, they are defiantly only a two wire affair looking for a closure to light the lamp. This is a mystery but pretty cool if you got it.
2nd Gen justa's have the 6 speed manual. My rear wiper switch works just like yours, except for constant running in reverse. Might be another 2nd Gen feature. Jim
It is a 2nd Gen feature. Auto wipers in reverse. Check this link and click Active Safety features then on wipers feature. MINIUSA.com
